Apple has released iOS 5 firmware update just as they promised last week at the iPhone 5 event. Along with iOS 5, users will be able to access iCloud as well. You can download iOS 5 for your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch by plugging it into your computer and checking for updates in iTunes. If you have a slow/unreliable connection, you can even use the direct download links (provided below).
If you are an Apple TV user, you can also grab iOS 5 for Apple TV (2nd gen models) now, which allows you to use AirPlay Mirroring. Make sure you have downloaded and installed iTunes 10.5 before you try updating to iOS 5. You must expect flaky connections due to heavy demand for these Apple software all over the world. Moreover the update file is around 900 MB, so be prepared to get tested for your patience.
The iOS 5 update is compatible with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 (GSM and CDMA), iPod touch 3rd/4th generation, and the iPad/iPad 2. We had a run down of some of the important features of iOS 5 including iCloud, iMessage, Notification center, NewsStand, Reminders and others.
