Boult has launched their most premium true wireless earbuds called the Boult Z40 Ultra. It has active noise cancellation, 100-hour battery life, and hi-fi audio quality. Boult is promising all of these features at a very attractive price. In this article, we will share our thoughts about the Boult Z40 Ultra after using it for around 2 weeks. Let’s get started.

Boult Z40 Ultra Review: Build and Design
The Boult Z40 Ultra is built well. The case is made of polycarbonate with a rubberized finish for the bottom half, giving it a rugged feeling. We have the black color variant that has a copper accent ring around the case, which looks good. The case is also IPX5 water or sweat-resistant to an extent.
The hinge mechanism of the case is solid, and the magnets that hold the earbuds in place are quite strong. The front of the case has LED lights to indicate battery life and charging, along with the Boult logo. Meanwhile, the bottom has a USB Type-C port.
The earbuds themselves are light and fit well. Due to the in-ear design, they create a seal that is good enough for passive noise cancellation. Overall, the Boult Z40 Ultra is built well and looks good for the price.
Boult Z40 Ultra Review: Audio Quality and Connectivity
The Boult Z40 Ultra comes with 10mm drivers and 3 inbuilt equalizer modes that can be accessed by tapping 4 times on the right earbud. The Z40 Ultra sounds very good in the Hi-Fi Music mode with clear vocals, punchy bass, and crisp instruments. When you first pair the earbuds with your phone, Hi-Fi Music mode is on by default. This is the best mode to use the Z40 Ultra in, but you are still getting Bass Boost mode, which boosts the bass, and Rock mode, which boosts the treble.
We did not expect these earbuds to sound this good for the price. The other two sound modes are not as good as the Hi-Fi mode, which only works properly for music as the audio becomes a bit bass-heavy when watching videos. The microphones are fine for taking calls but are nothing exceptional.
There is no latency while watching videos due to Bluetooth 5.3, and there also is a 45ms low-latency game mode, which can be activated by tapping 4 times on the left earbud. The Bluetooth range is not very good, as it keeps disconnecting when going just a bit far from the connected device. There is dual device pairing, which is unheard of in this price range among TWS earbuds, but it works well and switches very quickly between the two paired devices.
Boult Z40 Ultra Review: Features and Endurance
In terms of features, the Boult Z40 Ultra comes with Active Noise Cancellation, Dual Device Pairing, EQ modes, and up to 100h hours of battery life. Active noise cancellation works well in canceling most noises but is not very effective in scenarios with a lot of speech involved. There is a slight hissing noise when ANC is on, but you are not playing anything. You can tap and hold on the right earbud to switch between ANC on, ANC off, and Transparency mode, which is not very good.
Media controls include a single tap on either earbud to play or pause media, a double tap on the right earbud to skip to the next track, and a double tap on the left earbud to go to the previous track. A triple tap on the right earbud increases the volume, and a triple tap on the left earbud decreases the volume. All the controls are responsive and work well.
In terms of battery life, the Boult Z40 Ultra lasts for a long time. We have been using it for more than 2 weeks, and there is still 50% battery left in the case. The individual earbuds last for about 8 hours on a single charge. Overall, the battery life on the Z40 Ultra is very good.
Boult Z40 Ultra Review: Verdict
The Boult Z40 Ultra is an all-around product that provides flagship features at a fraction of the price. It has good build quality, decent ANC performance, very good sound quality, and amazing battery life.
