Android has always had a poor track record of timely updates compared to iOS. There are plenty of reasons for this. Google needs to develop Android OS and then release it to the OEMs, and then OEMs tweak it and add custom OSs on top of the base version. Finally, they roll it out to their devices. Moreover, Android phones have a vast number of device categories, which makes it very hard to roll out updates to all of them at once.
But somehow, Samsung has changed this perspective. Samsung now offers up to 8 years of software updates for its devices, which is one of the longest update cycles in the industry.
The company is also frequently rolling out timely updates to its devices. Just two months ago, Samsung rolled out One UI 8.5, which brought many features to Samsung phones. And now, in the next major version, the One UI 9 update beta has started rolling out.
One UI 9 is available for the public beta for Samsung Galaxy S26 devices, including in the US, India, and two other countries. OneUI 9 is expected to feature all the major updates Google announced for Android 17 in its recent Android Show 2026.
This post covers all the latest updates of Samsung’s One UI 9. Before that, here is the expected rollout time of the update and supported devices.
