Vivo’s Origin OS is a remarkable upgrade to its previous Funtouch OS. It not only brings modern design but also a lot of features and smooth animations. Currently, Vivo has taken the top smartphone brand spot in India. Taking that as a responsibility, the company also brought Origin OS 6 to all supported Vivo smartphones in India.

OriginOS 7 Update

Vivo OriginOS 6 was a big upgrade. We have been tracking all the latest updates for Origin OS 6, which you can check here. But not everything is great. It still has so many issues and is definitely subpar compared to the other popular OSs, like OxygenOS or even ColorOS. And soon, Vivo is going to announce Origin OS 7, its next generation of Origin OS on top of Android 17.

On the other side, Google is the final rollout for Android 17. It is already in the final beta and available for Pixel and a few other smartphones. Beta versions of custom OSs will also be available for many smartphones. Samsung has already started beta testing publicly for One UI 9 based on Android 17, and Vivo is already testing Android 17 Beta 3 for Vivo X300 Pro and iQOO 15 with a developer preview.

If you use a Vivo smartphone and are waiting for the OriginOS 7 update, look no further. In this guide, I am going to cover everything about the upcoming OriginOS 7, including the eligible device list, current rollout status, supported devices, and all the latest updates for OriginOS 7.

Top 5 Features coming to OriginOS 7

It is super early to list all the upcoming features of Origin OS 7, as the details are very scarce. Considering the Vivo development schedule and future requests, here are the top 5 features that are expected to come with OriginOS 7:

1. No major Design Changes

OriginOS Design

There will be no major redesign or new design-focused features in the upcoming OriginOS 7, as OriginOS 6 is already mostly refined. It comes with a modern design, but following Apple’s footsteps and considering what others are following, Vivo is expected to include a more translucent design in OriginOS 7.

It will be a hit or miss considering how people perceived it when Apple initially rolled out a liquid glass design on its iPhones.

2. Lots of AI features

OriginOS AI features

AI buzz isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, and in the recent Android show 2026, almost every announcement features for Android include AI.

Vivo OriginOS 6 currently comes with decent AI features, focused mostly on writing and photo editing. With OriginOS 7, Vivo is expected to continue to iterate on new AI features. We can also expect some agentic capabilities since Android 17 will power the base.

One such feature I am expecting is improved writing tools and some agentic tasks that you can run directly on your phone. This includes new photo editing and enhanced capabilities, as well as deep integration of Gemini and, hopefully, Rambler voice dictation app.

3. More privacy and security features

Google Privacy and security features OriginOS

Google is focusing heavily on security and privacy features, so we can expect Android 17 smartphones to also feature enhanced security and privacy options, including Vivo phones running on Android 17 with Origin OS 7.

Moreover, since Google is also limiting sideloading, it is expected that Origin OS 7 will also feature more security features, including theft protection, real-time evaluation of apps, security and permissions, scam call detection, malware protection, and much more.

4. Cross-platform sharing support

Vivo Quick Share Origin OS

Google has cracked Apple’s code and recently brought AirDrop support to Quick Share. Many OEMs have already implemented this feature on their phones, and now, using your Android smartphone, you can directly share your files with an iPhone user using Quick Share and AirDrop.

And at the Android Show 2026, Google announced that this feature is coming to more phones, including Vivo. And with OriginOS 7, this feature is expected to make its debut on all supported Vivo smartphones.

5. New emojis, custom icon support, and much more

Emojis on Origin OS

Finally, OriginOS 7 is also expected to feature plenty of customization options. First, you might be able to import custom icon packs from third parties or from the Vivo theme store. In Android 17, Google is also revamping 4,000+ emojis into 3D, and you can expect a similar update on the Vivo phones too.

Along with that, the ability to create custom widgets and personalize your home screen and all other Origin OS 7 customization features, which you can use to make your smartphone truly personal to yourself.

As I said, it is super early to judge the features of Origin OS 7. However, considering what Android 17 is offering, what users have requested, and what Vivo is currently building, these are the five biggest features I am expecting to see in the upcoming Origin OS 7.
