If you’ve been following recent events in tech town, you would be aware that IFA 2018 is currently taking place in Berlin, and Sony has launched its new flagship, the Xperia XZ3. The main highlight of the Xperia XZ3 is the 6-inch display up front with a QHD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio which comes with Sony’s BRAVIA HDR tech and is an OLED panel. The Gorilla Glass 5 protected display is almost bezel-less on the sides and has a Triluminos engine along with X-Reality for mobile. Moving on from the feature-packed display, there’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC under the hood coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. Which can be expanded via micro SD, provided you decide to forgo the second SIM slot.
While we expected the Xperia XZ3 to feature Sony’s new IMX586 48MP sensor, Sony decided to put in a 19MP camera unit with “Motion Eye” technology owing to a sensitivity of ISO 12800. There are the Laser-assist autofocus and an LED flash, followed by the fingerprint scanner at the center of the back. The front facing camera is a 13MP shooter with an f/1.9 aperture.
The Xperia XZ3 features Sony’s dynamic vibration system for audio output which generates sound from two speakers creating a surround sound effect. The smartphone is also IP68 water and dust resistant, while the back which enables Qi wireless charging is also protected by Gorilla Glass 5. There is a 3300mAh battery with support for Quick charge. A unique feat of the Xperia XZ3 is that it comes with Android 9 Pie out of the box making it the first device to ship with Android’s latest version, even before the new Pixels.
The Sony Xperia XZ3 will be available in Bordeaux Red, Forest Green, Black and White Silver color options, while the pricing and availability haven’t been announced yet.
