The successor to Honor’s popular mid-range smartphone, the Honor 7X is here, and its called the Honor 8X (duh). While the smartphone has been announced in China today, a global release should take place soon as both the 6X and 7X were pretty well received in India as well.
Specs include a 6.5-inch Full HD+ display with a notch and Honor claims a thin 4.25mm bottom bezel and an impressive screen to body ratio of 91%. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the all-new HiSilicon Kirin 710 octa-core SoC along with up to 6GB of RAM. There’s a 20MP rear shooter with LED flash and AI scene recognition which can supposedly identify up to 500 different scenes across various categories. There is also a 2MP sensor for depth sensing during portrait shots. The front houses a 16MP shooter for selfies with 4 in 1 pixel binning to improve overall pixel size and has support for AI beautify features as well.
There’s also a 4D gaming mode which provides real-time haptic feedback related to different scenarios during gameplay. There’s a fingerprint scanner on the rear, and 8X also sports dedicated slots for 2 SIM cards as well as micro SD. A 3750mAh battery with support for fast charging powers the internals.
The Hoor 8X has been launched in Black, Blue, Red and Purple color variants and starts at 1399 Yuan ($200/INR 14,500) for the base 4+64GB variant, while the 6+64GB variant is priced at 1599 Yuan ($230/INR 16,500) and top end 6+128GB variant is priced at 1899 Yuan ($280/INR 20,000).
