Realme X and Realme X Youth Edition Announced in China

With smartphone manufacturers managing to strike the inversely proportional specs-to-price ratio, we are starting to see a lot of manufacturers coming with devices that are offering a lot for quite a fraction of the price that they would otherwise cost earlier. Following this trend, Realme has just announced the company’s top-end smartphone flagship smartphone, the Realme X, in China. The highlights of this device include a 6.53-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display, Octa-Core Snapdragon 710 processor, up to 8GB of RAM, and 3765mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 fast charging.

The Realme X features a 6.53-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. Under the hood, it is powered by a 10-nm based Octa-Core Snapdragon 710 processor with Adreno 616 GPU, paired with 4GB / 6GB / 8GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of storage (expandable up to 256GB using microSD card). And for authentication, it uses an in-display fingerprint scanner. The device runs on ColorOS 6.0 based on Android 9.0 Pie and has a 3765mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 fast charging.

In terms of optics, the Realme X sports dual camera setup on the rear (48MP primary with Sony IMX586 sensor, f/1.7 aperture + 5MP secondary) with LED flash. And on the front, a pop-up camera with 16MP Sony IMX471 sensor with f/2.0 aperture.

Realme X Pricing and Availability

The Realme X comes in two colours: Steam White and Punk Blue and three configurations: 4GB + 64GB, 6GB + 64GB, and 8GB + 128GB, priced at 1499 yuan (~$ 219, Rs 15,325), 1599 yuan (~$ 232, Rs 16,345), and 1799 yuan (~$ 261, Rs 18,395) respectively. In addition to these models, there is also a Master Edition, designed by Naoto Fukasawa, which is available in Onion and Garlic White colours with unique patterns, priced at 1899 yuan ($276, Rs 19,410). And it will go on sale in China starting May 20.

Realme has also announced another smartphone at the event – Realme X Youth Edition, which has similar specifications as the Realme 3 Pro, launched in India last month.

The Realme X Youth Edition comes in two colours: Nitro Blue and Lightning Purple and is priced at 1199 yuan (~$ 174, Rs 12,260) for 4GB + 64GB variant, 1299 yuan (~$ 189, Rs 13,290) for 6GB + 64GB variant, and 1499 (~$ 218, Rs 15,334) yuan for 6GB + 128GB variant.
