Huawei introduced the FreeBuds 3, its latest true-wireless offerings at the IFA 2019, last year. And today, the company has finally announced the earbuds for the Indian market. The FreeBuds 3 is powered by the Kirin A1 chip, and Huawei claims the earbuds to be the “world’s only open fit active noise cancellation earbuds“. Let’s find out more about the earbuds in detail.

Design

In terms of design, the FreeBuds 3 comes with a round charging case, which appears to be compact and can easily fit in your pocket, without adding much bulk. Talking about the buds itself, the earbuds feature an ergonomic, curved, and an open-fit design that claims to offer a comfortable and snug fit in the ear for prolonged listening. Huawei calls this, Dolphin Bionic Design, and says it allows the earbuds to sit deeper in the ear canal and offer a better listening experience.

Performance

The Huawei FreeBuds 3 is powered by the Kirin A1 processor, which offers support for BT/BLE dual-mode Bluetooth 5.1 and combines with Huawei’s Isochronous Dual Channel transmission technology and a 356 MHz audio DSP (digital signal processor) to offer a fast, reliable, and synchronized connection. It includes a 14mm dynamic driver to deliver better audio quality, and there is also a built-in bone voice sensor that picks up the voice through bone vibrations and enhances it accordingly to deliver clearer audio during calls. Moreover, the earbuds also offer Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) to cut down on the ambient noise and offer a better music-listening and calling experience.

The FreeBuds 3 comes with a 410mAh battery for the charging case and a 30mAh battery per earbud. Huawei suggests, the earbuds can offer up to 4 hours of playback on a single charge, and up to 20 hours with the case.

Features

Similar to most true-wireless earbuds, the FreeBuds 3 also offers intuitive tap controls on both earbuds to help you control music and interact with calls. For instance, you can double-tap on the left earbud to turn ON/OFF ANC function and double-tap on the right to skip music. Besides, the earbuds also come with ear-detection, which automatically pauses/resumes the music when the earbuds are taken out/put back in the ear. Another interesting feature with FreeBuds 3 is the use of the
Aerodynamic Mic Duct design, which suppresses the wind passing by to offer clearer calls in outdoor settings.
