How to Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 with blackRa1n RC3?
Step 1: Download and install the latest version of iTunes if you haven’t already. (download link ).
Step 2: You will now need to first update/restore to the original iPhone OS firmware 3.1.2 on your iPhone by using the latest version of iTunes.

Download iPhone OS 3.1.2 for iPhone 3GS
Step 3: Download blackra1n RC3 for Windows or Mac (download link at the end of the post).
Step 4: Start blackra1n app. If you are running it on Windows 7 or Vista, run the app with “Windows XP Compatibility” mode by enabling it from the “Properties” tab to avoid any errors during the jailbreak process.
Step 5: Click on “make it ra1n”
Your iPhone will be placed in recovery mode
Step 6: Let the app do its thing and wait for the phone to automatically reboot.
Step 7: You should now have “blackra1n” in the list of applications on your iPhone. Run “blackra1n” app and select the packages you want to install like “Cydia”. This will jailbreak your iPhone or iPod touch on iPhone 3.1.2 firmware.
Step 8: Finally reboot your iPhone. That’s it! You should now have fully jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch running on firmware 3.1.2.

This is what it sais when i try to open blackrain….”this application has failed to start because ASL.dll was not found” What do i do?????
for the ppl with asl.dll problem
the solution is simple just take blackrain.exe and put it in:
c:\program files\common files\apple\apple application support
and then make a shortcut to your desktop
the problem is with the new itunes which breaks some programs using asl.dll
ok as soon as the black rain ” make it rain ” box appears and i click it it wont let it run all it says it that “it has stopped working” i have Vista can some one help me please

if your ipod/iphone is requiring a reboot after you jailbreak it with the original blackra1n software it may be because your ipod is 3rd generation “MC” version. on your springboard enter settings, next go to general, then go to “about”. look at the model of your ipod. if it starts with MC followed by some other didgets then u have the MC version. it was created by apple to be “un-breakable” or not able to be jailbroken. so everytime you reboot, restart, are power down your ipod it will require you to open the jailbreak window and click “make it rain” again. it will restore your ipod to the state it was in when u shut it off or it lost power, repeat the proccess as described above if your ipod continues to have this problem. contact me at 541-941-4994″ if you have further questions. i will be able to answer all of them. and by the way : your welcome. good luck with your jailbroken ipod.
Hi, please someone Help!!!!
I have been using my jailbroken phone for several weeks now beautifully with no problems. Today after letting it rain my phone gets stuck on, done, wait for reboot – with nothing happening. The geohot logo is on my screen but no spinning wheel nothing. I have tried several times but cant seem to get anything to work. What do I need to do
i downloaded blackrain and after it puts the phone in recovery nothing happens the iphone just has the connect to itunes screen. I tried following instructions above, but then it got worse. The screen shows the connect to iTunes icon when i turn it off and on, even trying to do it several times. And i can’t seem too restore the phone either.. im going crazy, has my phone stpped working??
Ok guys, so I just got my iphone today…trying to unlock it for t-mobile… so many issues already. its 2.2.1 version on 02.30.03 baseband… i tried getting rid of my 9.0.2 itunes for 8.2.1 so i could update to 3.1.2 version, but still wants me to download 3.1.3 which i guess hasnt been hacked yet.. so i have already tried blackra1n so many times and i have yet to see the picture all i get is either the apple logo or stupid itunes/usb picture then it doesnt really reboot just goes back to normal and there is no blackra1n logo, WTF DO I DO?
I was successful in jailbreaking my iphone 3GS 32G for several times if my battery gets fully drain or I put the iphone power off. However, I lost connection via Wifi. Before when I experienced this, I just have to jailbreak it again using blackrain RC3. When I was doing the same process I can connect anymore via wifi. Anyone can assist me solve my problem?
Now if u use blackrain and it stays black ( screen) or the plug in logo , just leave it and hold both buttons down for ten seconds let go , try puting it in dfu mode over and over try holding both for a little then let go on one and continu to hold bottom home button, basicly you just have to press n hold keep trying to hold both or one just keep doing that and it should go eventually thats how i get it out of being stuck
i downloaded blackrain and the cydia did not show properly i did not connect my iphone to the wifi. i thought i was a failure for downloading blackrain. Therefore, i deleted blackrain icon and when i was doing the “make it rain” and i never get back the icon. Is there anyone who know how to reinstall the balckrain icon?

If yu get hung up on the black screen , delete blackra1n [from yur desktop and recycle bin ] then redownload it . worked for me =)

i plug my ipod into my computer after it is already in recovery mode (with the itunes logo and usb cable picture showing) and then i click “make it ra1n”, it doesnt show geohot’s pickture on my ipod, instead it just goes to a black, blank screen. how do i fix this problem???
for all those ppl who r getting stuck on this “done,wait for reboot”. put your phone on flight mode and remove the usb. this worked for me.
I upgraded to the 4.0 software on my 3G. It was awful and I downgraded back to 3.1.2 (I never had the 3.1.3 update). I just ran Blackra1n in Vista, with compatibility on (then tried without), and it goes through straight to saying the phone is jailbroken, but I never get the Blackra1n icon on the springboard. The whole process takes 1 minute and I never see the Geohot pic. I’ve rebooted the phone, and it appears to be working exactly the same as it had before, just not jailbroken. I have a feeling this is not going to work, probably because there is something in the 4.0 OS that is still remaining (baseband or such). Any ideas?
