Sony has now revealed its plan to update its existing range of Xperia smartphones to the Android O. The report coming from Japan further disclose a list of Xperia devices that will be receiving the update to the last and the greatest Android. All major Sony Xperia smartphone released during 2016 and 2017 are scheduled for the update.

That aside, the list also contains flagship smartphones like Sony Xperia XZ, Sony Xperia XZs, and Sony Xperia XZ Premium. Android O is yet to be released by Google and is expected to be unveiled sometime later this month. It is currently in the developer preview form and is available for a handful of Nexus and Pixel smartphones. The upcoming version of Android, however, brings a number of features to the table. The notification dot is one of the most useful features of the Android O. This feature enables us to check our app specific notification directly from the home screen by tapping on the app. After that, a floating box crops up showing notifications and apps shortcuts. This feature will be especially useful for phones with larger displays like the Sony Xperia XZ Premium. Sony Xperia Android O Update Timeline
Despite listing out the smartphones, Sony hasn’t released a time frame for the pushing the Android O update to these phones. Most probably, the Android O update wouldn’t be hitting any of these phones before the end of 2017. Sony is expected to announce a complete time frame for the rollout of the update soon. Just like Sony, Samsung too has released a list of devices that will be receiving the Android O update. OnePlus, on the other hand, has confirmed that it will be pushing the Android O update to the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 3/3T by the end of this year.
