Anthropic will now be more transparent about the guardrails of Fable 5

After backlash from the AI community, Anthropic is now saying it will be more transparent about the guardrails of Fable 5.

The Big Picture:
Anthropic recently announced its Mythos-level model, Claude Fable 5, which is now generally available to the public and also to paid subscribers until June 22.

However, when the model was initially announced a few months ago, Anthropic held off on its public release, citing security issues and potential risks. With Claude Fable 5, Anthropic added stricter guardrails and made it available to the public. If anyone tries using this model for bad practices, such as distillation for training other AI models, the model will fall back to Claude Opus 4.8.

But it frustrates the AI community, as Anthropic doesn’t disclose or show whether the model is downgraded to Claude Opus 4.8 for some queries. After backlash, Anthropic now says it will be more transparent about whether the model switches to an older version or refuses your request. However, it is still not easing the guardrails. Anthropic hasn’t disclosed exactly what signals or prompts are directed to the 4.8, but on a high level, it says that if the model is used for distillation, cybersecurity, or biology, it will downgrade to the previous model.

However, if you are using Claude Fable 5 now, you will clearly know whether your query is routed through the new Claude Fable 5 or the previous Opus 4.8.

Your ChatGPT Bill Could Finally Get Cheaper

OpenAI is reportedly considering reducing the prices for its tokens and API usage. The Wall Street Journal has reported the story. The plan is still in the works and has not been confirmed by OpenAI.

ChatGPT API price reduction

The Big Picture:
Just in time, OpenAI is enjoying its sweet top spot. Anthropic has recently taken the spot with its Claude 3.5 Mythos-level model. Since the AI battle is heating up along with the new models, companies are also aggressively offering incentives and considering lowering prices for their model usage. Despite having fewer active users, Anthropic is still beating OpenAI in terms of revenue. To onboard new developers with an attractive pricing model, OpenAI is considering reducing prices for its users.

Currently, there is no information on how much of a price cut to expect or whether OpenAI will actually move forward with this. As the Wall Street Journal reported, this is currently being considered and is in the plans. This won’t affect casual users, as the subscription for the app will remain the same. This change only decreases the pricing for developers and people who are using models through the API and direct tokens.

YouTube is bringing back DMs to YouTube again

YouTube in-app messaging feature

YouTube has announced that YouTube DMs are finally rolling out to users in the US and globally. Google announced it in 2025, citing it as the most requested feature on YouTube. Now you will be able to share videos and discuss them with your friends without leaving the app.

The Big Picture:
YouTube DMs work very differently from other messaging apps. To access this DM feature, the user first needs to verify their age. This feature is only available to users aged 18 or older.

To start a message conversation with others, first you need to share the invitation link through another messaging app. Once the invite is accepted, you can have one-on-one conversations inside the app where you can share videos directly and send text messages.

You can decline invitations, clear chats, and unsend messages. Your invite link expires after seven days. Remember that YouTube DMs are not a direct replacement for messaging apps like WhatsApp or Signal. Your messages are not fully encrypted, and it doesn’t offer as many features as regular messaging apps currently offer.

WhatsApp is expanding multi-account support to more iPhone users

WhatsApp multi-account support on iPhone

After testing it for months, WhatsApp is finally rolling out multi-account support for iOS. Now you can directly switch between different WhatsApp accounts in one app. This feature has been available for Android for years. It is similar to how you would do it on Instagram.

The Big Picture:
The WhatsApp multi-account feature is very handy, especially if you use multiple WhatsApp accounts on the same mobile. Now, with this new multi-account feature, you can use two accounts in the same app without relying on WhatsApp Business or using a cloned app.

It currently only supports two accounts, and both of them should be linked to a unique phone number. You cannot create two WhatsApp accounts with the same number. To add a new account, you must enter a new phone number and verify it through SMS or a call link. Once added, you can switch between different accounts anytime without limitations.

Meta is adding an AI assistant and a desktop version to its Edits video-editing app

Instagram Edits AI and desktop features

Instagram’s video editing app, Edits, is now getting two new features. An AI assistant that allows you to analyze your video performance on Instagram and the desktop version in the coming days.

The Big Picture:
Instagram Edits launched as a direct alternative to CapCut. If you are an Instagram creator, you can now edit videos directly in the app and share them. The app also currently includes a performance dashboard directly in the Edit tab, where you can see your video performance. It is now getting an AI assistant to help you to understand more about your performance and also brainstorm for new content ideas.

However, the big announcement is that Edits is also getting a desktop version. Instagram says it is coming soon, but hasn’t shared the timeline yet. It says it will support complex workflows. It is going to directly compete with the CapCut desktop version, which is currently the most popular and is also in controversy for raising its prices and has been banned in regions like India.

Currently, there is not much information about the Edits desktop app. We don’t know when or where it is going to be available, but once it is, I hope it’s going to be free for all. We will have to see whether Instagram will include any subscription plans, similar to CapCut. Currently, Instagram Edits are already available for Android and iOS.

Now you can control some Android TV settings using Gemini Voice

Gemini controls for Google TV

Google TV is getting some useful upgrades with AI. Now you can change some settings using Gemini Voice. The feature is currently available for users in the US for selected TCL models, including the TCL QM9K, X11L, QM9L, QM8L, and RM9L.

The Big Picture:
This might be one of the most useful updates for Google TVs in years. Controlling settings on an Android TV and navigating through different menus is often a complex task, as users typically have to rely on either their mobile device or the brand’s TV remotes. But now with this new feature, you can just describe the settings you want to change using natural prompts, and Gemini will do it for you. Google says Gemini can adjust settings such as brightness, contrast, picture mode, volume, sound mode, and bass, troubleshoot problems, and more. It can also optimize settings based on the content you are currently viewing. Google says that after the initial rollout, it will be available for more TVs in the future.
