Oppo has today introduced a 2018 upgrade for its budget A71 smartphone. The new variant has been launched in Pakistan and is expected to arrive in India within a few weeks. It’s priced at PKR 19,899 (~Rs 11,500 / $179) and will be offered in two color options — Gold and Black. Availability details are, however, not yet revealed. The updated A71 comes with a better processor and surprisingly, a GB less RAM.
As far as the specifications are concerned, the Oppo A71 comes with a compact 5.2-inch 720p screen on the front. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 450 octa-core chipset, a significant bump from the dated MediaTek MT6750. There’s 2GB of RAM, Adreno 506 GPU, and a 3,000mAh battery. The phone runs on Android Nougat and the company’s own ColorOS 3.1. Sadly, it lacks a fingerprint sensor or face unlock feature available either.
The A71 is compatible with dual-SIM and features 16GB of onboard storage which can be expanded via a MicroSD card. The camera arrangement includes a 13-megapixel f/2.2 rear sensor and a 5-megapixel f/2.4 lens for selfies. Speaking of selfies, Oppo has also bundled its artificially intelligent beauty feature which is “based on a global image database that serves as an experienced photographer, who knows your beauty and will offer the most suitable beautify effect for you”.
