After a series of leaks across the internet, and getting spotted on Huawei’s official website a few days back, the company has today officially launched the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro smartphone, at an event in Paris. Building upon the success of the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro, which got a lot of attention in the camera department last year, it would be interesting to see how their successors manage to live up to the expectations, and compete with the likes of Google Pixel 3, Apple iPhone Xs, and Samsung Galaxy S10.
Huawei P30
The Huawei P30 features a 6.1-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a 2340×1080 pixel screen resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, it is powered by a 7nm HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset with dual NPU, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage (expandable up to to 256GB using a microSD card). It has a 3650mAh battery with 25W SuperCharge and reverse wireless charging support. The P30 is IP53 certifies and runs on EMUI 9.1 based on Android 9 Pie. And for authentication, it comes with an optical in-display fingerprint scanner.
In the camera department, the Huawei P30 sports a triple camera setup on the rear, with a 40MP primary with f/1.8 aperture, 16MP ultra-wide with f/2.2 aperture, and an 8MP 3x telephoto with f/2.4 aperture. It also has a flash, color temperature and flicker sensor, laser transmitter, and a laser receiver. And a 32MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and AI HDR+ on the front for selfies.
Huawei P30 Pro
The Huawei P30 features a 6.47-inch Full HD+ OLED display with 2340×1080 pixel screen resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a 7nm HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset with dual NPU, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of internal storage (expandable up to to 256GB using a microSD card). The device has a 4200mAh battery with 40W SuperCharge and 15W wireless charging. It runs on EMUI 9.1 based on Android 9 Pie and is IP68 certified. For authentication, it uses an optical in-display fingerprint scanner.
In the camera department, the Huawei P30 Pro sports a triple camera setup on the rear, with a 40MP wide-angle with f/1.6 aperture, 20MP ultra-wide with f/2.2 aperture, an 8MP 5x telephoto with f/3.4 aperture, and a ToF depth-sensing camera. There’s also a flash, color temperature, and flicker sensor. The primary and the telephoto camera on the device both have OIS to reduce blur and improve night photography. And a 32MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and AI HDR+ on the front for selfies.
Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Pro Pricing and Availability
The Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Pro come in five colors: Black, Pearl White, Aurora, Amber Sunrise, and Breathing Crystal. The Huawei P30 is priced at €799, and the Huawei P30 Pro with 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB, and 8GB+512GB of RAM and internal storage variants for €999, €1099, and €1249 respectively. Both the devices will be available for order starting today.
