Huawei Maimang 8 with Kirin 710 and Triple rear camera announced

After teasing the device for a few days, Huawei has today officially announced its latest mid-range smartphone, the Huawei Maimang 8, in China. The Maimang 8 is a successor to the Maimang 7 (launched last year) and a rebranded version of the P Smart+ 2019 smartphone (unveiled in March). Some of the highlights of the smartphone include a 6.21-inch Full HD+ waterdrop notch display, Kirin 710 SoC, and triple rear cameras.

The Huawei Maimang 8 features a 6.21-inch Full HD+ waterdrop notch display with a 2.5D curved glass, 19:5:9 aspect ratio, and an 89% screen-to-body ratio. At its core, the smartphone is powered by a 12nm-based Octa-Core Kirin 710 processor with ARM Mali-G51 MP4 GPU, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage (expandable up to 512GB with microSD card). It has a fingerprint sensor, mounted on the rear, for authentication, and dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS, and 3.5mm audio jack, Micro USB, for networking and connectivity. The smartphone has a 3400mAh battery and runs on EMUI 9.0, based on Android 9.0 Pie.

In terms of optics, the Huawei Maimang 8 sports a triple camera set up on the rear (24MP primary + 2MP secondary + 16MP ultra-wide) with LED flash. And an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies. The camera on the smartphone also offers some additional photography features like a handheld super night scene, 8 kinds of smart scene recognition, 480fps slow-motion video shooting, AI portraits and AI scene detection.

Huawei Maimang 8 Pricing and Availability

The Huawei Maimang 8 comes in two colour options: Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue, and is priced at 1899 yuan (US$ 274 / INR 19,042). It will be available for order starting today and will go on sale in China from June 12.
