Realme recently announced its latest budget offering, the Realme C3, for a starting price of Rs 6,999. The C3 is a successor to Realme’s C2 from last year with a bunch of upgrades and improvements. And it stacks up against Xiaomi’s Redmi 8A, launched back in September last year. Continuing with the trend, Xiaomi has today launched the Redmi 8A Dual, which is an upgraded version of the 8A in some sense and the latest competition for the Realme C3. Let’s check out the device in detail.
Redmi 8A Dual: Design and Display
The Redmi 8A Dual follows a similar design language as its predecessor with a plastic back that comes with Aura X Grip design for better grip in hand, along with a P2i splash-proof nano-coating. Towards the front, it features a 6.22-inch IPS display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and a 1520 × 720 pixels screen resolution. The display comes with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top and has a dewdrop notch on top to house the front-facing camera. It comes in three color options: Sea Blue, Sky White, and Midnight Gray.
Redmi 8A Dual: Performance
At its core, the Redmi 8A Dual is powered by a 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor with Adreno 505 GPU, similar to the Redmi 8A, coupled with 2GB or 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, expandable up to 512GB with microSD card. It includes a 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support over USB Type-C, to power everything, along with reverse charging. What’s more, the phone comes with VoWiFi support, so you can take calls with poor network coverage, over Wi-Fi.
As for other specifications, the Redmi 8A Dual comes with dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C, a 3.5mm audio jack, and FM Radio. On the software front, it runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 9, out of the box.
Redmi 8A Dual: Camera
In the camera department, the Redmi 8A Dual sports a dual-camera setup with LED flash. The setup includes a 13MP AI primary camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture, AI scene detection, and AI portrait mode. On the front, it includes an 8MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture for selfies.
Redmi 8A Dual: Pricing and Availability
The Redmi 8A comes in two configurations: 2GB + 32GB and 3GB + 32GB, priced at Rs 6,499 and Rs 6,999. It will go on sale in India starting February 18 across Mi.com, Mi Home, and Amazon India, and other offline partners soon.
Alongside the Redmi 8A Dual, the company has also launched the all-new Redmi power bank with 10,000mAh and 20,000mAh battery capacity.
