Sorting emails by size on a desktop or PC is as easy as it gets. Sorting emails is an effective way to tackle a filled-up Gmail storage, as you can quickly point out large emails and delete them immediately. Other use cases include searching for a particular email or an attachment. Whatever may be your reason, here is how you do it:

1. Open your Gmail inbox by visiting here.
2. In the search box at the top, select the preferences icon as shown below.
   
3. Set the initial parameters if you want; otherwise, jump straight to the size section.
4. Set the search preference to greater than or less than as per your requirement. We prefer opting for greater than since it’s easier to sort that way.
5. In the next column, enter the size value. Select the unit accordingly from the subsequent dropdown menu, be it MB, KB, or Bytes.
   
6. Click on Search.

If you don’t wish to include other parameters, such as subject, date, or recipient, you can directly sort Gmail by size by entering a specific command. Here is how it goes –

larger:2M – This command shows emails over 2MB in size.

smaller:3K – This command shows emails that are less than 3KB in size.

larger:4 – This command shows emails over 4 bytes in size.

You can set the size parameter as needed and perform a search accordingly.

Sort Gmail by Size on Mobile

Although not as elaborate, the mobile version of Gmail also allows sorting emails by size, too. To do so –

1. Open the Gmail app on your smartphone.
2. In the search bar, type Size:2MB. This will display emails over 2MB in size. Similarly, you can type Size:16KB and Size:1GB to display emails larger than 16KB and 1GB in size, respectively.
3. To fine-tune the search results further, set the parameters present below the search bar accordingly.
