Claude Fable 5 Is Coming Back

Anthropic Fable 5

The U.S. Commerce Department has lifted the export limit on Claude Fable 5 after banning it for general users on June 12, 2026. Anthropic has officially announced this news on X and announced that the model will be restored tomorrow. Currently, there is no information on how they plan to restore it for general users. It also doesn’t mention whether it will be fully available for users outside the US.

However, plenty of reports already point to the fact that this is a complete lift of the ban, and Claude Fable 5 is going to be available for general users, even for those outside the United States. The United States Department of Commerce has also issued a public statement stating that they have lifted bans on Anthropic models, including both Fable 5 and Mythos 5, which you can read below.

The Big Picture:
This is big news for Anthropic and for all other AI model providers.

First, for Anthropic, Fable 5, its current best model for users, will be available to every general user. Anthropic says they will restore access from tomorrow. This is the same model that the U.S. government has blocked due to security risks. They have said that Anthropic has worked closely alongside the government to fix those issues. While Anthropic Fable 5 will be available for general users, Claude Mythos is still restricted to the trusted partners.

And the next big news is for OpenAI, as with Anthropic, the US government also blocked the latest GPT-5.6 models from the public. However, now similar to Anthropic OpenAI’s recently announced GPT-5.6 models are also expected to be available soon for general users. However, there is no statement or any update from OpenAI for now. CEO Sam Altman announced that they will be available to general users in the coming days. This could be a starting point for OpenAI to roll out its models to general users as well.

And if you have been missing the Claude Fable 5, it is time to re-access the model and complete your unfinished work. Also, Anthropic announced Claude Sonnet 5. More details are below.

Claude Sonnet 5 Is Here

Claude Sonnet 5

Anthropic announces Claude Sonnet 5, a big jump in terms of version number from Claude Sonnet 4.6. It is now the new default model for all Claude Free and Pro users and is available for Max, Team, and Enterprise users.

According to Anthropic, Sonnet 5 is better than Claude’s previous Sonnet models in terms of planning, using tools, browsing, using terminals, writing code, and running tasks more. In some tasks, it is also equally capable as Claude Opus 4.8, its mid-tier flagship model.

Here are the benchmarks shared by Anthropic, which show a big jump in certain benchmarks from Claude Sonnet 4.6 and also bring it closer to Claude Opus 4.8.

The API pricing remains unchanged for the developers. Anthropic is offering an introductory API price of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens until August 31, 2026. From September 1, 2026, the standard price becomes $3 per million input tokens and $15 per million output tokens.

Before Claude Sonnet, Anthropic also announced a dedicated app called Claude Analysis for researchers and Science. This tool allows better data visualization in a more advanced way and helps researchers connect different data points. Anthropic says Claude Science helps researchers search literature, analyze data, run code, create figures, and draft manuscripts in one place. Remember that this is just an interface for Claude, specifically built for researchers and science teams, and this isn’t a new model. Claude Science is currently available for macOS and Linux. There is no information about Windows availability for now.

ChatGPT for Finance Is Now Available for Plus Users in the U.S

OpenAI ChatGPT Finance

OpenAI is expanding its ChatGPT for Finance for Plus users in the U.S. Previously, it was limited to Pro users in the U.S. Now, Plus users can also directly connect their bank accounts to ChatGPT and use ChatGPT to get insight about their financial activities. First, users need to connect their bank accounts through a third-party service called Plaid, which supports more than 12,000 banks, credit cards, and other financial institutions. Remember that once you’ve connected, ChatGPT will have access to all your finances, transactions, investments, liabilities, and all other financial data, and even use it to train AI models if you allow it.

ChatGPT Finance is rolling out only to Plus users, who have already been able to use it for Pro users since launch. However, it is still strange for us, as we are able to see the Finance tab in the sidebar, as we reported in the past briefs. But we are still not able to use that feature, though.

Also, if you are looking to connect your finance and you are worried about privacy, first you need to disable the data training settings by going to Settings> data controls. This is because OpenAI says financial controls follow the same model training settings as other conversations.

Google Is Rolling Out Gemini Spark to the Gemini App on macOS

Google Gemini Spark

Google’s AI agent Gemini Spark is now available in the Gemini app on macOS. Gemini Spark is an AI agent that was announced at Google I/O 2026, where it can do tasks on your behalf. It is similar to the computer use feature for Anthropic, where it now has the capabilities to read files on your Mac and automate desktop workflows. It can do things like organizing folders, sorting PDFs, managing premium files, performing cleanup, and much more.

Plus, it can also support third-party apps, including MCP support. It also comes with support for real-time topic updates, where the agent can fetch all the latest information and summarize it for you.

Google’s Gemini Spark is currently only available for the macOS app, and it is limited to Ultra users for now. Plus, it can also connect to third-party apps and do tasks on your behalf.

The Big Picture:
While Google is silent on its upcoming Gemini 3.5 Pro model, which it announced at Google I/O 2026 and said would debut next month, there is still no sign of this model from Google yet. Whereas, on the other hand, both Anthropic and OpenAI’s powerful models will be available to general users after recent lifts on restrictions.

However, while Google isn’t active in shipping its models, it is launching plenty of side projects. For example, Google has recently announced Gemini Nano 2 Lite and is also making its Gemini Omni model available on more platforms, and announced Gemini Omni flash mode.

And also, once again, Google is limiting most-awaited features to only macOS for now, since the Google Gemini app is only available for macOS. The Google Gemini app is only available for Apple Silicon Macs and requires macOS Sequoia 15.0 or later to install.

Google Announces Two More Gemini Media Models, Including Gemini Nano 2 Lite and Gemini Omni Flash

Google Gemini Nano banana Lite image models

Google announces two Gemini models today: Gemini Nano 2 Lite, which Google says is the fastest and most efficient Gemini image model so far. Since Flash models and Lite models are generally designed to be fast, efficient, and low-cost for developers, Google says that it is built for high volume and recommends it as a replacement for older Nano and Sequoia models.

Google says that Gemini Nano 2 Lite can generate text-to-image output in 4 seconds and costs around $0.03 per 1,000 images. Google is also making Gemini Nano (Banana 2 Lite) available in Google AI Studio, the Gemini API, and the Enterprise Agent platform for developers.

It is also being made available to AI models and products, including Gemini App, NotebookLM, Photos, Google Search, Flow, and Google Ads for regular users.

Next, along with the Gemini Nano and Banana 2 Lite, Google has also announced its Omni Flash model, called Google Gemini Omni Flash, for video generation and editing. Similar to the Gemini Nano Banana 2 Lite, the Gemini Omni Flash model is designed to be efficient and more affordable for developers. Google is also bringing it to the Google AI Studio Gemini API and making it available in the Gemini app and Google Flow. Google Gemini Flash models can generate up to 3-10 seconds of 720p video through the API.

NotebookLM Is Getting a Vertical Video Feature

NotebookLM can now generate vertical video for you. The new feature is currently rolling out to Pro and Ultra users. Users can now generate up to 60-second vertical video clips based on the sources.

The Big Picture:
Since the launch, Google has been continuously iterating on NotebookLM by introducing new features. Video overviews are one of the biggest highlights. It is also a great study partner for students, and even for people wanting to create a knowledge base with Google Gemini models. The best part is that, based on the sources, it can generate a variety of new content formats. This includes a podcast with two people talking to each other (which is very interactive) and also video and audio for better learning. Now Google is adding support for vertical video for use similar to TikTok and YouTube Shorts style. Based on the sources you upload, it can now generate videos up to 60 seconds.

This can also be very useful for students, especially if you want to revise a chapter quickly in a more visual way. Instead of using flashcards, you can generate these TikTok-style short videos to better grasp the concept. The feature is currently rolling out to Google One AI Premium subscribers on mobile and the web, and it is also coming to free users soon. And the feature is currently rolling out for English only for now.

Apple Watch Might Get a Big Redesign in 2027

Apple Watch Might Get a Big Redesign in 2027

According to the latest leaks, the Apple Watch series may get a big redesign in 2027. According to Instant Digital, which is reliable and frequently posts leaks about Apple, the Apple Watch will get a major overhaul next year. He particularly points out that Apple is going to bring a new band connection system, which is expected to feature magnetic band attachments. With these changes, users will be able to magnetically attach the bands directly to the Apple Watch, and they are also expected to be even thinner.

He also points out that since it is a major design overhaul, the existing Apple Watch bands might not work with the upcoming redesigned Apple Watch in Series 13. If this is true, the Apple Watch redesign will join the upcoming iPhones in 2027, as Apple marks 20 years of the iPhone and prepares a major anniversary redesign for the device. Apple is also planning to launch several other product categories, including AirPods with cameras, AI glasses, new iPhones with a redesign, MacBook Ultra in the coming days, and New upgraded OLED displays for iPads and MacBooks in the future.

We already reported everything about the Apple product launch timeline for 2027 in our previous TechPP Daily series, where you can check for more details.
