Apple News
Apple Reportedly Wants to Sell 10 Million iPhone Foldables
We have been reporting that Apple is going to announce its first foldable iPhone this year alongside the iPhone 18 series. Now, a new report says that Apple is expected to manufacture nearly 10 million iPhone Folds. Previously, it was estimated that Apple was considering producing 7 to 8 million iPhone Folds, but the new target is 10 million units for production.
The Apple iPhone Fold is expected to be priced very premium, at around $2,500 to $3,000, depending on the storage variants. This is going to be the first foldable smartphone from Apple, and it will also feature premium specifications. We already know almost everything about the upcoming iPhone Fold, which we have also been tracking in a separate post.
If Apple is already increasing its production target to 10 million units, this also shows that Apple is not treating its first foldable as a limited experiment. It is preparing for a serious premium launch, and that puts direct pressure on Samsung, which has been leading the foldable market for years.
Apple May Use Two Different Modems for the iPhone 18 Pro Series, Depending on the Market
According to the latest report by AppleInsider, which obtained information from leaked Tata Electronics data from the recent cyber breach, reports that the Apple iPhone 18 Pro series will use two different modems depending on the market. In the U.S., Apple will use Qualcomm modems, while in other regions, Apple may use its new internal C3 modem by Apple.
For those who are unaware, Apple has started designing its own custom modems. Apple’s first in-house modem first debuted in the iPhone 16e, and later, Apple brought a new modem to the iPhone Air, calling it the C1X.
The same modem was used in the iPhone 17e, too. However, if these leaks are true, for the first time, the Pro series will now be getting Apple’s built-in C modem.
Since mmWave is popular in the U.S. and carriers still want it as a support, Apple will continue to use Qualcomm modems in the U.S. However, in other regions where mmWave 5G isn’t required, Apple is switching to its own custom modem. Reports also suggest that Apple’s C-series modems are dependable. According to Ookla, which tested the C1 modem on the iPhone 16e against the Qualcomm modem on the iPhone 16, Apple’s modems are more power-efficient compared to Qualcomm’s.
The Apple C1 also performed very similarly to the Qualcomm modems, though upload speeds were actually better in many places with the C1. Because it is Apple’s own component, it integrates better with the iPhone ecosystem.
However, there are downsides; Apple C modems do not support mmWave at all, and also, peak download speeds are still better on Qualcomm compared to Apple’s C-series. However, currently, we don’t have any information on what the next generation of Apple’s C modem is going to offer. But if the leaks are true, we should get full details during the iPhone 18 Pro series launch itself.
Foldables
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 Might Be the Final Z Flip Phone
Surprising news coming from Samsung. The company might discontinue the Flip series foldables entirely. This report comes from Ice Universe, who is popularly known for his Samsung leaks.
He says that Samsung is considering discontinuing the Flip lineup after the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8, which is going to be announced this month alongside other foldable smartphones and new wide foldable iPhones. We don’t know exactly what the reason is behind Samsung’s decision to discontinue the flip phones, but the report says this is because Samsung wants to focus more on its foldable series.
Moreover, this year, Samsung is also going to introduce a new, wider foldable form factor, which competes directly with Apple’s upcoming foldable phone this September.
By analyzing the full data, the Samsung report also shows that there is still a strong demand for the Flip series. However, with the Flip 6, the data suggests the demand has slowed down; however, it improved again with Flip 7. Currently, Samsung and Motorola are the two main brands that design foldable smartphones. Motorola, with its Razr series, is not quite as popular as Samsung with its Galaxy Z Flip series.
However, we see many trends indicating that Samsung Galaxy book-style foldables are more popular than flip phones.

Messaging News
The Indian Government Is Now Sending Notices to Signal and Telegram Regarding Their Usernames
It seems like the username controversy is taking a bigger approach than expected. After WhatsApp announced its username feature in India, the government asked WhatsApp to stop the rollout and explain this feature within 3 days. WhatsApp responded that it is currently just reserving usernames, and the feature is scheduled to roll out later this year. They also answered several FAQ questions on how it works.
Now, according to the latest report, the Indian government has also sent notices to Signal and Telegram over their username features to explain how the username features work on their platforms. Telegram works slightly differently from both WhatsApp and Signal.
That is the reason why the government also recently banned Telegram before the NEET 2026 exam. However, with the wider rollout of WhatsApp usernames, it has created a spark around the private messaging industry in India.

Sony Has Created a New Trend with Its Shutdown of PlayStation Disc Games
We heard you. And we agree.
In light of recent developments in physical media, GitHub is proud to announce that you can now obtain your public repo on CD-ROM.
Keep it. Lend it to friends. Pass it on to your children.

Ever since Sony announced that it is going to shut down the disc version of PlayStation games starting in January 2028, it has become a trend and a meme for other companies. Many companies are using it as a marketing stunt, mocking Sony and saying that their products are available in a disc format too.
Microsoft GitHub even goes ahead and says that it is offering a free, limited edition disc version of GitHub repositories and is even planning to ship it to the users who order it. It says the offer will be available from July 2 to July 6, and only the first 1,000 members will be able to grab one. Even KFC has done it by saying that their items will be available only for consumption in the PNG format. While some were found funny, most should have been avoided, in our opinion.

This Might Be Your First Look at Microsoft’s Copilot Operating System, Called Project Aion
There is no shortage of new OSs from Microsoft, and now, according to the latest leaked video, we got a first look at a Microsoft Copilot-based OS called Project Aion from the leaked video from 2024.
For those who are unaware, Microsoft has explored a new Copilot-first operating system that is built entirely around AI, with Copilot at the center. While we didn’t have any details at the time, a recent leaked video has given us our first look at how the entire OS is designed, as well as its specifications and capabilities.
First, as reported, the entire OS will be focused on the AI-first interface, with Copilot as the center. It is built on the lightweight Windows codebase called Win3, instead of using the full Windows as a core operating system.
The entire OS is powered by Microsoft Edge and web technology, similar to Chromebooks. It is primarily designed to run apps and websites rather than traditional Windows apps. Users can use Copilot to perform tasks such as searching files, opening apps, browsing the web, and starting tasks.
It also has a feature called Space, which groups tagged websites and tasks by goal. For example, instead of grouping only browser tabs or Word files, it can group everything related to one project.
What we believe is that Windows has explored an alternative OS to Chromium with an agentic and AI-first experience. However, the Copilot experience on Windows is not up to the mark, even though Microsoft has acknowledged this and promised to remove it in areas where it is not necessary.

Anthropic Fable 5 Will Be Available as a Subscription Once Anthropic Has Enough Capacity to Run It
I've heard a lot of questions about Fable's availability on subscription plans.
While it will come off subscriptions after July 7th, we aim to restore Fable as a standard part of our subscriptions as soon as capacity allows, as we mentioned in our original blog post.
— Thariq (@trq212) July 2, 2026
Anthropic has relaunched Fable 5, which is available for every user and as a subscription with 50% weekly rate limits until July 7. Now, according to the Anthropic head Thariq, he says that Anthropic is planning to make Claude 5 available generally for subscribers once it has enough capacity. After July 7, Claude Fable 5 will only be accessed through the API and as a part of users’ credits, and planning to offer subscription plans too in the future.
And Claude artifacts in Claude Code are now also available in Pro and Max plans. With Artifacts, you can create webpages where you can create simple websites and publish them live to Claude.ai, and you can also update the data in real time.

All Samsung Galaxy S27 Models May Include a Privacy Display Feature
Now, according to the latest report, all Samsung Galaxy S27 models will include a privacy display feature. Samsung has introduced Privacy Display, a hardware-level feature that prevents people beside you from looking at your screen when the mode is turned on.
For instance, when you turn on the privacy mode on your Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, the only device that currently supports this feature, the display changes how it emits light. Instead of emitting the light in all directions, it directs the light only straight ahead. This blocks other users from the wide-angle view to view the screen, preventing them from looking at your display directly.
We have explained how Samsung Galaxy Privacy Display works in detail in the video below. According to the latest report, this feature is going to be available in all Samsung Galaxy S27 models. While it’s good news for people who care about privacy, remember that this display also has downsides, especially in terms of resolution when the privacy display is turned on. We should see whether Samsung has improved this or fixed any issues that were present in the initial version.
