Yi cam is Xiaomi’s take on GoPro action camera, and its latest iteration has got some neat features. The new Yi cam has been upgraded to take 4K videos at 30 fps, courtesy, the 12MP Sony IMX377 sensor. The Yi cam comes with a 2.19-inch display and has dual band Wifi support to connect to Android smartphones. The processing is handled by Ambarella A9SE SoC with support for the popular H.264 codec.
The Yi cam now comes with separate apps for photos and videos editing with ability to share directly to popular social networks. Other than 4K at 30fps, the Yi cam can capture 1080p at 120 fps and 720p at 240 fps as well. It also allows for time lapse videos with 0.5 / 1 /2 /5/ 10/ 30/ 60 seconds internals between shots. The display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. There’s a 6-axis gyroscope for Electronic Image Stabilization. The 1400mAh battery will ensure up to 2 hours of continuous 4K video recording. Considering it weighs just 95g, that’s pretty impressive.
The Xiaomi Yi 4K action camera comes in Black, White, Pink, Gold and Rose Gold colors and is priced at 1199 yuan (US$ 183 / Rs. 12,270 approx.). If you want a Bluetooth remote and selfie stick packed in, it would cost you 1299 yuan (US$ 199 / Rs. 13,295 approx.). Other accessories such as waterproof case, UV protection lens with leather cover are also available separately. Much like the new rage in China, it will be available for pre-order via crowdfunding and will ship to the backers starting June 2016.
