Asus has today added yet another entry-level smartphone to the growing Android Go lineup. It’s called the “Zenfone Live L1” and unlike other Android Go products, this one features a significantly better pack of modern specifications from a tall screen to a face unlock feature. The Taiwanese phone maker has introduced the phone in Indonesia. However, there’s no confirmation on the pricing and availability information yet.
The Zenfone Live L1, for starters, has an 18:9 5.5-inch with a resolution of 720p. There’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor along with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 2TB through a dedicated MicroSD card slot. However, a 2GB RAM variant is also available which, instead of Android Go, ships with the company’s own ZenUI custom skin.
The camera arrangement houses a rear 13-megapixel sensor which does support Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), a critical optics feature absent on the majority of other Android Go phones and a 5-megapixel selfie camera that also powers its ability to be unlocked with just a face. Under the hood, it runs on a 3000mAh battery and is compatible with Bluetooth 5.0. The Asus Zenfone Live L1 will be initially available in Indonesia in a couple of color options — Rose Pink, Midnight Black, Blue, and White.
The biggest highlight of the Asus Zenfone Live L1 is, of course, Android 8.1 Go, a lightweight fork of its beefier counterpart designed to run more efficiently on underpowered hardware. The software also features a specialized, trimmed-down set of Google apps like Google Go, Maps Go, which don’t require a ton of resources to function and roughly take only 1MB of space.
