Quick Answer
The upcoming iOS 19, Apple’s next big update for the iPhone, is expected to feature a major design overhaul similar to the Vision OS. It is now expected to feature a transparent design, rounded corners, and icons inspired by Vision OS. The camera interface is also expected to be overhauled with a new design. Plus, Apple has recently announced the live translation for AirPods with iOS 19, RCS support encryption support might be fully available with iOS 19, and Apple’s biggest update for Siri is also expected to be rolled out along with the iOS 19. Here is everything about the iOS 19 you should know.
Apple’s next major update for iPhone, iOS 19, will come out in just a few months. Like every year, we already have plenty of details about what iOS 19 will be and what it will look like, along with all the major changes coming to iOS 19 in the form of leaks and industry expectations.
After years of dealing with iterative updates, this year’s iOS 19 update is again rumored to be a big update with a major design overhaul, enhanced AI features (hopefully), a redesigned camera app, live translation for AirPods, and more.
Since AI is at the center stage of every mobile OS and Samsung is taking the lead in every comparison, it will be challenging for Apple to make the next version of iOS 19. If you are excited about iOS 19, this guide will give you a clear picture of what’s coming in the next iOS version.

Yet Again, Apple Is Rumored To Have the Biggest User Interface Overhaul on iOS 19
We expected a major design overhaul with iOS 18, but later, closer to the launch, the only major change in iOS 18 was the ability to place apps anywhere on the screen. However, it is rumored that Apple will have a design overhaul for the iOS 19 inspired by Vision OS this year.
This isn’t any fresh leak. These rumors have been in the news since Apple introduced a Vision OS for the Apple Vision Pro, and it is expected iOS 19 will also have a design overhaul and look similar to Vision OS with a uniform, rounded, and transparent design.
The current iOS has remained mostly unchanged since iOS 7, which was released in 2013. Apple has always focused on transparent, classy design. To align with Vision OS and create a unified Apple ecosystem. It also makes sense for Apple to introduce a new design for iOS, especially since it has remained largely the same for years. With the struggling Apple intelligence, Apple may prioritize design to bring a new, fresh look to iOS.
We don’t have the exact changes coming to the iOS 19. According to several reports, there will be a change in the UI interface for the entire system with a new visual refresh that looks similar to Vision OS. It is also expected to come with rounded corners, which are detailed in our iOS 18 expected changes post. You can view the design below. More changes, including Navigation Overhaul, bring a better way to switch between apps, more translucent elements, and 3D-like interactions.
Apple completely revamped the Control Center in iOS 18; however, many users feel that accessing quick toggles is now more difficult than in previous versions.
Apple is expected to address and fix the control center inconsistencies with iOS 19. Also, there will be enhanced animations and support for new widgets and floating cards-like elements. However, one of the biggest improvements we hope to see in iOS 19 is better notification handling in the iOS 19. We expect Apple to bring an improved notification system that is a grouping and better management for notifications. We will likely have more personalized home screen and lock screen setup options.
Along with a system-wide UI overhaul, iOS 19 is expected to introduce a redesigned camera interface with a minimalistic design and easier access to photo and video options, including live filter previews, manual controls, a timer, and more. You can check the image above shared by the FPT. If this is true, we can expect a massive overhaul of the camera interface too.
Live Translations for AirPods
According to a recent report from Bloomberg, Apple wants to bring a live translation for the Airpods with the iOS 19. Google introduced similar features on Google Pixel Buds.
Apple might introduce live translation features for AirPods with iOS 19, as per Bloomberg. While Google introduced real-time translation in Pixel Buds in 2017, Apple's approach is translating speech in real life using AirPods and playing responses through the iPhone speakers. pic.twitter.com/BFmhZqIPtg

With the AI-powered live translation feature, Apple AirPods can automatically detect the language, translate it, and play audio while you wear AirPods. We don’t know whether Apple uses an iPhone on-device or cloud AI for language translation in real life. Since it requires instant communication and faster response, we are likely anticipating this will be on-device open processing.
Not only that, it is also going to support two-way communication. You can also speak into your AirPods, and the iPhone will translate your speech and play the translated output for seamless communication.
We don’t know which AirPods models will support the live translation feature. It is expected to be a part of the iOS 19 and might be added to the Airpods using a software update.
Support for RCS Encryption
After years of battle and green and blue bubble saga, Apple has finally added support for RCS messaging on iPhone with iOS 18, which enabled modern messaging features like typing indicators, read receipts, higher-quality photos and videos, larger file sharing, group chats, interactive messages, and more.
However, RCS hasn’t supported end-to-end encryption up until now. Recently, GSMA (GSM association representing mobile network operators worldwide) announced that it would support RCS encryption in the future, and both Apple and Google agreed to add RCS encryption for messaging services.
The new end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for RCS encrypts messages shared between the sender and receiver, ensuring that only the sender and receiver can read messages. Apple has announced that the RCS eruption will soon be part of iOS 18. However, since we are getting closer to iOS 19, Apple might add broader support for RCS encryption in the upcoming iOS 19.
Finally, #RCS messaging between #iPhone and #Android will support encryption. Apple has confirmed that end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for RCS messaging is coming in a future update. While iOS 18 already supports RCS, this update will add encryption. pic.twitter.com/9GQK3BxLQQ

We Might See Apple’s Delayed Apple Intelligence Features in iOS 19
Apple has over-promised AI features with the iOS 18 and has been struggling and pushing the rollout timelines. Apple has announced several Apple intelligence features to support iPhones with the iOS 18, including the more advanced Siri, the voice assistant by Apple.
Apple has big ambitions for Siri, but Siri has always been a setback, falling behind Google and Amazon Alex even for basic tasks. But thanks to AI advancements, Siri is expected to support natural conversation with contextual awareness and remember your previous conversations. Apple also claimed Siri 2.0 can perform in-app actions like moving and editing files or sending content to contacts.
However, despite these ambitious plans, apple has announced a delay in rolling out Siri 2.0, and it is expected to wait until the release of iOS 19 or even later, according to recent developments.
Apple has confirmed this in your recent announcements, quoting that. ”We’ve also been working on a more personalized Siri, giving it more awareness of your context and the ability to take action for you within and across your apps. It will take us longer than we thought to deliver these features, and we anticipate rolling them out in the coming year”.
After missing the deadline. Apple has not provided an exact timeline for the improved Siri rollout. However, it might debut alongside iOS 19.
