Apple Starts Offering 1-Month Free Trial for all iCloud Subscription Tiers

Apple’s iCloud storage options are pretty sought after. The storage works well with the Apple Photos app and most importantly, it offers a family cloud space sharing account (sigh! Google Drive). Apple has now decided to give away a 1-month free trial for 50GB and 200GB iCloud subscription tiers. According to AppleInsider, the offer is already being rolled out to Free iCloud subscribers.

Apple is also pushing a pop up message that gives you more information about the offer. The frequency of the message increases with the increase in the use of iCloud. For instance, I was kept bombarded with Buy iCloud Storage messages quite regularly.

You do not have enough space in iCloud to back up your iPhone. A 50 GB plan gives you plenty of space to continue backing up your iPhone. Your first month is free and it’s just $0.99 each month after.

Once users tap on the notification icon, they are lead to the “Change Storage Plan” section wherein they can change the plan or move to a higher subscription tier. That being said the rollout of the new iCloud subscription plan seems to be limited to certain regions. I tried subscribing for the same but seems like the offer hasn’t been rolled out in India. It’s worth mentioning that Apple is also giving a free trial on the 2TB Tier.

Meanwhile, the offer seems to be restricted to iCloud users who are still in the free tier. On a related note, Google recently slashed their prices for the Google Drive subscription tiers. Apple has also introduced family sharing on the 200GB and the 2TB tiers. If you were waiting to try out the iCloud than avail the offer and get cracking.

In my opinion, switching from one Cloud provider to another is not an easy task. Currently, my stuff is on Google Drive and despite the benefits offered by other services, it would be difficult for me to move it. So the new iCloud trial is mostly meant to net the users who don’t have paid cloud drive account anywhere else.
