After a series of leaks and rumours going around over the past few months, Apple has finally officially launched the Smart Battery Cases for its newer generation iPhones. Similar to the one released way back for the iPhone 6/6s, the new case promises to deliver an even better battery performance, in addition to adding an extra layer of protection on the device.
The new Smart Battery Case is compatible with the iPhone Xr, iPhone Xs, and iPhone Xs Max and is expected to extend the device’s battery life significantly. Just like the previous model, the case also looks bulky with a slope at the back housing the extra juice required to serve the connected device.
But the important thing to note is that it comes with support for wireless charging and is compatible with all Qi-certified chargers, which would allow users to place their device on the charging pad without having to remove the case from the device. By doing so, the battery case can also be charged simultaneously, which can be used later to charge the device. In addition to wireless charging, the battery case can also be charged via lightning cable or fast charge with USB-PD compatible chargers. The case is integrated with iOS, that allows it to intelligently charge the device while showcasing the battery status on the lock screen and notification centre of the device.
The Smart Battery Case is built out of soft microfiber lining and silicone exterior that provides it with a certain degree of protection against scratches and drops. It comes in two colours: Black and White and is available at a price of $129 (~Rs 9185) at select Apple Authorized Resellers starting today.
