Samsung’s newest mid-range smartphones, Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 with Infinity-U Displays Announced

After a lot of failure and constant efforts in making its mark in the mid-range smartphones, Samsung has today refreshed its A-series of smartphones by launching the Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 smartphones at an event today at the Mobile World Congress. Both the new phones are the new-generation A-series phones and feature a waterdrop notch, or as Samsung likes to call it, the Infinity-U display.

In terms of look and feel, both, the Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 come with a plastic frame and a glass back on the back and share the same type and size of the display. However, the differentiating factor between both smartphones is the SoC, RAM, internal storage, and camera configurations. The Galaxy A50 will come in four colours: Black, White, Blue, and Coral, whereas, the Galaxy A30 will miss out on the Coral colour option.

Samsung Galaxy A30 Specifications

The Galaxy A30 features a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 at 1080 x 2340 resolution and a waterdrop notch at the top. Under the hood, it is powered by an Exynos 7904 Soc, with 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB of RAM and internal storage configurations, expandable up to 512GB using a microSD card. For authentication, the device uses a fingerprint sensor, located on the rear, to lock/unlock the device. It has a USB Type-C for connectivity and charging, and packs in a massive 4000mAh battery, with 15W fast-charging support to power the device.

In the camera department, the A30 sports a dual (16MP with f/1.7 and 5MP with f/2.2 ultra-wide) camera setup on the rear and a 16MP with f/2.0 and fixed focus sensor on the front for selfies.

The Galaxy A30 also comes with a set of functionalities like the Samsung Health, Samsung Pay, Bixby Home, and Bixby Reminder to make your device more useful and allow you to get a lot done on your phone.

Samsung Galaxy A50 Specifications

The Galaxy A50 features a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 at 1080 x 2340 resolution and a waterdrop notch at the top. Under the hood, it is powered by an Exynos 9610 Soc, with 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB of RAM and internal storage configurations, expandable up to 512GB using a microSD card. For authentication, the device uses a fingerprint sensor, located on the screen, to lock/unlock the device. It has a USB Type-C for connectivity and charging, and packs in a massive 4000mAh battery, with 15W fast-charging support to power the device.

In the camera department, the A50 sports a triple (25MP with f/1.7, 5MP with f/2.2 for depth-sensing, and 8MP with f/2.4 ultra-wide) camera setup on the rear and a 25MP with f/2.0 and fixed focus sensor on the front for selfies.

In addition to Samsung Health, Samsung Pay, Bixby Home, and Bixby Reminder found on the A30, the A50 also features the Bixby Voice and Bixby Vision functionalities, which are missing on the low-priced A30.

As of now, Samsung has not disclosed any information on the pricing and availability of both, the A30 and A50 smartphones. However, it’s likely that the phones would launch in the global market very soon.
