The iOS jailbreaking scene is dominated with bunch of rumors and pointless beta releases. We had deliberately kept them out of Technically Personal. Now, we have something concrete and useful coming up. The iPhone dev team have confirmed the release of Redsn0w 0.9.7 for Windows sometime soon which will let users jailbreak iOS 4.2.1, and that too untethered!
Since Apple still serves the 4.1 IPSW (not blobs!), we’ll do a Windows redsn0w release for untethered 4.2.1 via Monte-4.1
Sometime back, the iPhone Dev team had released Untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak for Mac OS X via Jailbreak Monte technique, but it was using iOS 4.2 Beta 2 hashes & iOS 4.2 Beta 2 firmware which are available to developers only. Now, with the latest developments, Windows version will be free from such requirements as it will be based on iOS 4.1 jailbreak Monte.
