The tablet market is on a decreasing trend and even Apple’s iPad, the king of the hill, seems to be seriously affected. Apple was expected since last year to come up with an oversized iPad, and that’s when Samsung came up with its Galaxy Note Pro 12-inch slate to pre-empt the release of the iPad Pro.

And now, as iPad Pro rumors are surfacing again, it seems that Samsung plans to come up with an even bigger device. SamMobile reportsthat the South Korean company is currently working on an Android tablet with an 18.4-inch display. The slate is internally codenamed “Tahoe,” and it is believed it will have the following specs:

  • Android 5.1 Lollipop
  • 18.4 inch TFT LCD display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution
  • 64-bit 1.6GHz Exynos 7580 processor
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 32GB of internal storage with an microSD card slot supporting up to 128GB cards
  • Rear 8 megapixels and 2.1 MP front cameras
  • 5,700 mAh battery
  • 451.8 mm wide, 275.8 mm tall, and 11.9 mm thick

Judging by its size, this alleged tablet could be aimed at organizations, such as enterprises or classrooms, as it’s highly unlikely for regular consumers to be particularly interested in the device. It could also be an interesting device for doctors, architects, painters and so on, but it definitely won’t have a mass appeal. We’ll be keeping an eye out and will update with further details once we have them.
