It might not have even been released in the market, but the much-leaked OneOPlus 5 is already being perceived by many as the handset to beat (we even think it has reason to be considered as THE Android flagship. But that is not to say that it is going to be short of the competition. And one of its challengers is likely to be arriving in early July from Huawei’s sister brand, the Honor 8 Pro.
The Honor 8 Pro, which some say was launched in China as the V9 earlier this year, and comes with some formidable specs – a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, 6 GB RAM, 64 GB and 128 GB storage variants, dual 12.0-megapixel shooters, and a massive 4000 mAh battery. The phone is powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 960 processor, runs the company’s recently released EMUI interface, and comes with a slim, curvy design, although not with the dazzling mirror finish that marked the rather dishy Honor 8. And there’s a spin in the package -literally – as the packaging can be converted into a VR set, thanks to the lenses in the box (check the tutorial below).
The big question and one which has not been answered yet is what price the Honor 8 Pro will come at. It was launched at 549 Euros in select European countries earlier this year, which has led to speculation that it might be priced at around Rs 37,500 for India. However, there are those who feel that Huawei might just opt to go toe-to-toe with the OnePlus 5, and price the device closer to Rs 35,000 or maybe even Rs 30,000. Now, that would be something. We have no details about the price, nor about the availability (Honor has been mainly an online brand, though), but cometh July and we think the OnePlus camp might have some reason to frown. And it would be an Honor-able reason too. Pun intended.
