HTC’s budget lineup is finally getting a long overdue 18:9 refresh. The company has introduced two new smartphones under its Desire series today — Desire 12 and Desire 12+. You would think, considering HTC’s current position in the market, that both of them will have a balanced price to features ratio but sadly, you’d be wrong. The Desire 12, in fact, doesn’t even feature a fingerprint sensor in spite of the €185 price tag and the fact that it’s 2018.

If you’re still interested in knowing about them, here it goes. The new Desire 12 and Desire 12+ feature a 5.5-inch and 5.99-inch 720p 18:9 screens respectively. Both of them have up to 3GB of RAM and flaunt a liquid-surface design with a glossy back. The Desire 12+ runs on a Snapdragon 450 chipset, while the Desire 12 has a MediaTek MT6739 processor.

Both of them have a primary 13-megapixel snapper on the rear. Although, the Desire 12+ also features a secondary 2-megapixel with depth sensing capabilities. There’s an 8-megapixel selfie camera on the Desire 12+ and a 5-megapixel one on the Desire 12. There are four color options to choose from — Black, Silver, Purple, and Gold. Out of the box, the Desire 12+ comes preloaded with Android Oreo, while the Desire 12 with Android Nougat. Both with, of course, a custom skin on top.

HTC didn’t reveal the exact pricing for both the phones but it did say they will cost somewhere between €199 (~Rs 16,000) and €249 (~Rs 20,000). They will go on sale in Europe starting from April.
