Xiaomi, in an event held in Bengaluru today with the title “Smarter Living” has launched multiple products which are a part of its ecosystem and the Mi Band 3 being one of them. The Mi Band 3 is the third iteration of the popular fitness tracker series launched in India by Xiaomi in 2015 which focuses on providing exemplary battery life along with a great balance of both form and functionality at an affordable price tag.
When looked at side by side, you wouldn’t notice a lot of changes when compared to the last-gen Mi Band 2 in terms of the exterior, except for the addition of a 3D curved glass with support for touch input instead of a flat OLED panel with a button for navigation on the Mi Band 2. The silicone strap or band remains largely similar while the main capsule shaped tracker has been bumped up in size due to a larger 0.78-inch OLED display along with a slight depression at the bottom which acts as a touch capacitive button. The underside of the tracker sports a heart rate monitor while one of the sides has 2 contact pins which connect to the proprietary charging cable.
When compared to the last-gen Mi Band 2, the Mi Band 3 brings in some much-needed improvements and features like the ability to navigate through different menus by swiping on the display which feels much more intuitive than using a single button. You can also read and dismiss your notifications from the band itself which can be really helpful. The Mi Band 3 is water resistant up to 50m or 5ATM pressure and the battery inside is a 110mAh unit which Xiaomi claims will last up to 20 days on a single charge.
The Mi Band 3 has been launched in India for a price of Rs. 1,999 and will be available to purchase on the company’s website mi.com as well as Amazon.in, of course, through flash sales from 28th September at noon. It will be later available from offline channels such as Mi Home as well. You can check out our review of the Mi Band 3 here to know more about it.
