What’s Changed on the Redmi Note 6 Pro from the Redmi Note 5 Pro

If we have to be concise, the display is now bigger and has a notch with dual front facing cameras rated at 20+2MP. The rear camera has received an upgrade as well and is now the same sensor as the Redmi Note 5 AI from earlier this year which is a 12+5MP setup with an f/1.9 aperture and 1.4 micron meter pixel size.

What are some key specifications of the Redmi Note 6 Pro?

The main highlight of the Redmi Note 6 Pro is the new 6.26-inch Full HD+ display with a notch. Under the hood, there’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC which is the same as the last-gen Note 5 Pro with up to 6GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The rear cameras are 12MP and 5MP along with an aperture of f/1.9 on the primary lens. The front facing shooters are rated at 20+2MP. The battery follows the legacy of the Redmi Note line-up and features a huge 4000mAh capacity.

What software does the Redmi Note 6 Pro run on?

The Redmi Note 6 Pro runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with MIUI 10 on top. MIUI 10 is a feature-rich interface and while I wished to see Android Pie out of the box, MIUI doesn’t really feel different despite the Android version so this shouldn’t be much of a deal breaker.

Are there multiple variants of the device that will go on sale?

Yes, the Redmi Note 6 Pro will be sold in 2 variants. The base variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage and the top-end variant with 6GB of RAM and the same 64GB storage.

Does the Redmi Note 6 Pro come with a headphone jack?

Fortunately, yes! It’s been relocated from the bottom to the top now which isn’t really the ideal location for me, but hey, it’s at least there!

Can the notch on the display be hidden?

Yes, the rather larger display notch can be hidden from the settings menu.

Is there support for dual 4G VoLTE on the Redmi Note 6 Pro?

How are the cameras on the Redmi Note 6 Pro?

The dual rear cameras perform well in daylight conditions and while the phone struggles a bit in low-light, it does hold its own. There’s support for portrait mode as well for both the front and rear cameras with the aid of the secondary sensor. The front-facing 20MP shooter also shoots crisp images in most scenarios.
