Huami Technology, one of the largest wearable device companies, has just announced the Amazfit Smart Watch 2 at an event in China. The watch is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2500 and comes with support for eSIM for 4G VoLTE calling across all the major operators in China.
The Amazfit SmartWatch 2 features a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with a 454 x 454 pixels screen resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. It is powered by a 1.1GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2500 platform with 512MB of LPDDR3 RAM and 4GB of eMMC storage. The watch runs on AMAZFIT OS and comes with support for Android 4.4 or iOS10.0 and above. It runs on a 420mAh that claims to offer up to 28 hours of battery life on 4G. Other hardware specifications include IP68 dust and water resistance, speaker, microphone, 4G VoLTE (eSIM), WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, and NFC.
In terms of functionality, the Amazfit SmartWatch 2 offers Sports, Activity, and Sleep tracking, in addition to 10 different sports activity tracking. It comes with the narrowband network technology (NB-IoT), which does not require the user to connect the watch and phone over Bluetooth and can be used to report emergency health events in real time, in addition to sending information like low heart rate, atrial fibrillation, and fall detection. The watch also comes with an ECG edition, which can store up to 60 minutes of ECG data locally for a period of up to 7 days.
