Honor MagicWatch 2 with AMOLED Display and Kirin A1 Announced in China
Alongside the V30 and V30 Pro, Honor has also announced a new smartwatch, the MagicWatch 2, today in China. The MagicWatch 2 is a successor to the last year’s model and introduces a bunch of new features and improvements.
Honor MagicWatch 2: Design and Display
The MagicWatch 2 comes in two variants: 42mm and 46mm, with the 42mm variant featuring a 1.2-inch AMOLED display with 390×390 pixels screen resolution and 800 nits brightness, and the 46mm having a slightly bigger 1.39-inch AMOLED display with 454×454 pixels screen resolution and 800 nits brightness. The 46mm variant also comes up as a slightly bulkier model with a marginally thicker design and weight. Although both models do not have an IP rating, they do promise up to 5ATM (50 meters) of water resistance. As for color options, both the 42mm and 46mm model come in two colors — Charcoal Black and Flax Brown for the 42mm model, and Agate Black and Sakura Gold for the 46mm model.
Honor MagicWatch 2: Performance
At its core, both variants have a Kirin A1 processor running under the hood, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 2GB of built-in storage. However, they do come with different battery capacities, with a 215mAh on the 42mm model and a bigger 455mAh battery on the bigger 46mm model. For connectivity, both models come with the same specifications – Bluetooth v5.1, Wi-Fi, dual-frequency GPS, and NFC, and also have the same set of sensors like – accelerometer, gyroscope, optical heart rate, air pressure, and ambient light sensor.
The smartwatch also comes with features like – heart rate tracking, sleep monitoring, HUAWEI TruRelax, all-day activity tracking, and around 15 workout modes. It runs on Huawei’s own LiteOS and is compatible with both Android and iOS, running on Android 4.4 and iOS 9 or newer.
Honor MagicWatch 2: Pricing and Availability
The Honor MagicWatch 2 comes in two band options: Leather and Silicone, with the 42mm model with Silicone strap priced at 1099 CNY (~ 156 USD / 11,700 INR) and the same model with a Leather strap at 1399 CNY (~ 198 USD / 14,218 INR). Similarly, the 46mm model with Silicone strap costs 1199 CNY (~ 170 USD / 12,186 INR), while the same with a leather strap is priced at 1399 CNY (~ 198 USD / 14,218 INR). As for availability, the MagicWatch 2 will go on sale in China starting December 12.
