Xiaomi announced the Redmi Note 9 alongside the Note 9 Pro globally, back in April this year. A few months later, the company went on to announce the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max for the Indian market. And now, it is bringing the regular Note 9 in the country via an online-only event, which sits alongside the other two models in the Redmi Note 9 series. Redmi Note 9: Design and Display
To begin with, the Redmi Note 9 appears to have a similar design as the Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max, with what Xiaomi calls, the “Aura Balance design” that has a quad-camera setup on the rear and a cutout on the front for the front-facing camera. It comes in three colorways: Arctic White, Aqua Green, and Pebble Grey.
Towards the front, the device has a 6.53-inch Full HD+ display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. Moreover, the display also comes with TÜV Rheinland low blue light certification.
Redmi Note 9: Performance
Under the hood, the Redmi Note 9 runs on the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC, which is an octa-core processor built on the 12nm process, with the Mali-G52 GPU. Assisting the processor is 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of onboard storage (expandable up to 512GB with a microSD card). To power the internals, the device includes a 5020mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.
For connectivity, the Note 9 comes with dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC. As for other hardware specifications, there is a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for authentication. Besides, the device runs on MIUI 11 based on Android 10, out of the box.
Redmi Note 9: Camera
In the camera department, the Redmi Note 9 sports a quad-camera array on the rear. The setup includes a 48MP (f/1.79) Samsung GM1 primary sensor accompanied by an 8MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide-angle lens with 118° FoV, a 2MP (f/2.4) macro, and a 2MP (f/2.4) depth sensor.
On the front, the device comes with a 13MP (f/2.25) in-display camera for selfies and Face Unlock.
Redmi Note 9: Pricing and Availability
The Redmi Note 9 comes in three configurations: 4GB + 64GB, 4GB + 128GB, and 6GB + 128GB, priced at Rs 11,999, Rs 13,999, and Rs 14,999, respectively. As for availability, the phone will go on sale starting July 24 on mi.com, Amazon, and offline partners.
