If you need to draw comparisons between things, share screenshots to help someone troubleshoot a problem with their device, or group the content from multiple pictures into one, you’ll want to combine images on your device.

However, unlike on an iPhone, which has the Shortcuts app that simplifies combining multiple images into one, there isn’t a similar solution on Android. As such, you have to resort to other methods.

Keep reading as we share some of the best ways to combine photos on an Android phone.

Combine Photos on Android Using Google Photos

Many Android phones come pre-installed with the Google Photos app. In addition to offering several photo editing tools and AI features, Google Photos also includes a few utilities.

Collage is one such utility, which we’ll use to combine multiple images. Here’s how:

  1. Open Google Photos on your Android phone.
  2. Go to the Library tab.
  3. Tap on Utilities at the top of the screen.
    Library tab in Google Photos.
  4. Select Collage under Create New.
    Utilities page in Google Photos.
  5. Select all the images you want to add to your collage. You can select up to six photos at once.
  6. Hit Create to combine the selected images into a collage.
Create button in the Google Photos app to create a collage.
  7. Depending on how many images you selected, Google Photos will add them in a layout accordingly. You can try out other layouts by tapping on them at the bottom of the screen. Google reserves some layouts for Google One subscribers.

  8. Next, you can adjust the photos in the collage. Swipe up or down on the image with one finger to move it, turn clockwise or anti-clockwise using two fingers to rotate right or left, or pinch in or out with two fingers to zoom in or zoom out on the image.
  9. If you want to change the order of appearance, tap and hold on an image to select it, drag it to the area where you want to put it, and let go to drop it there.
  10. Finally, hit Save to save the image to your library.

Combine Photos on Android Using Samsung Gallery

Just like the Google Photos app, Samsung’s Gallery app, which comes pre-installed on Samsung phones, also comes with a built-in collage tool that makes combining images super easy. If you’re a Samsung user and averse to downloading new apps, this tool can get the job done most of the time.

  1. Open Samsung Gallery on your Samsung phone.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and select Create.
    Pictures tab in Samsung Gallery.
  3. Select Collage and choose the images you want to combine on the following screen.

  6. Similarly, you can change the aspect ratio, too. Tap on the 1:1 button and select your preferred aspect ratio.
  7. The Gallery app automatically adds a border to the collage by default. But you can modify it if you want. Just tap the window icon (next to the 1:1 icon), and from here, you can change the border’s thickness, radius, and color as per your preference.

  8. Lastly, you can also adjust the image in the collage to put the key things in your pictures into focus. Simply pinch in or pinch out with two fingers to zoom in or out of a picture or swipe up or down on an image to move it up or down in the collage.
  9. Once everything’s done, hit the Save button in the top-right corner to save the photo.

Combine Photos on an Android Phone Using Adobe Photoshop Express

Google Photos is good for use cases where you want to put images next to each other. However, it isn’t ideal; it adds a non-removable border around the images and offers little control over the collage. Similarly, the built-in collage maker in Samsung’s Gallery app may also not be the best option due to its limited features.

Adobe’s Photoshop Express, on the other hand, offers more layout options, supports multiple aspect ratios, and offers the ability to adjust borders; not to mention, it’s a full-fledged photo editing app, so you can edit photos, too. It’s free to use, but you can get its premium subscription to unlock all its features.

Download Adobe Photoshop Express

Once downloaded, follow these steps to combine multiple images on Android using the Adobe Photoshop Express app:

  1. Open the Adobe Photoshop Express app on your phone.
  2. Sign in with your Adobe account. You can continue without signing in if you want.
  3. Grant Photoshop Express access to your photo library.
  4. Tap the button with the collage icon in the bottom-right corner of the app.

  7. Similarly, you can change the collage’s aspect ratio. Simply select Aspect Ratio and select an aspect ratio you like.
  8. Photoshop Express also lets you modify the collage borders. Tap on Borders, and then choose which border (outer or inner) you want to customize. Use the slider to adjust the border width. To change the border color, go to the Color tab and pick a color. You can also modify the border radius according to your preference.
  9. If you want to edit the photos in the collage, tap on the Edit tab. From here, you can add new photos to the collage, delete one from the photo collage, replace an existing one, or simply perform regular photo edits and adjustments.
  10. Lastly, you can also adjust the photo inside a collage. Pinch in or pinch out with two fingers to zoom in or out on the image, rotate two fingers clockwise or anti-clockwise to rotate the photo right or left, or swipe up or down on a photo with one finger to move it up or down.
  11. When you’re satisfied with the outcome, hit the download icon at the top to save the image to your library.
