Along with the iPhone 11 which is essentially the spiritual successor to the “affordable” iPhone XR launched last year, Apple has also announced the new iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max which will replace the XS and XS Max from last year. As expected, the major changes come in terms of the rear cameras wherein we now have a triple sensor array consisting of an additional wide-angle lens.

The display on the iPhone 11 Pro is a 5.8-inch AMOLED panel which Apple is terming as Super Retina XDR display. The panel can go up to 1200 nits of brightness and has a contrast ratio of 2000000:1. The display is HDR-enabled and, of course, has tru-tone functionality just like the previous generations. The display, at least in terms of looks remains unchanged since the iPhone X launched in 2017 with the same huge notch at the top housing the FaceID sensors. Talking about FaceID, it has supposedly been improved compared to last-gen.
The internals of the new iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max are also updated with Apple’s latest in-house chipset, the A13 Bionic. This is a 7nm based chipset accompanied by what Apple is terming as the World’s fastest GPU on a smartphone, which assists with Apple Arcade. There’s also Dolby Vision along with Dolby Atmos and the display itself is said to be up to 15% more power-efficient.
Thanks to the power-efficient chip and display, Apple is boldly claiming that the iPhone 11 Pro will last up to 4 hours more than the XS from last year in terms of battery performance. The iPhone 11 Pro Max, on the other hand, will apparently last up to 5 hours more than the XS Max. To add to the good news, Apple is also bundling in an 18W fast charger inside the box for the very first time.
While the iPhone 11 has just two cameras on the back, the 11 Pro and Pro Max have an additional third sensor. All three cameras are 12MP shooters with different focal lengths. A primary wide-angle shooter, an ultra-wide-angle shooter with 120 degrees field of view and a 2X telephoto lens. All the cameras can record video up to 4K at 60fps. Apple has also introduced new features into its camera UI like a new Night Mode, new portrait lighting effects and zoom audio. The iPhone 11 Pro is also IP68 water-resistant.
