Xiaomi has today launched the much-anticipated smartphone for some time, the Redmi K30 5G, at an event in China. The Redmi K30 5G is the world’s first smartphone to come with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor (with integrated 5G connectivity) and includes the 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor, a 120Hz refresh rate display, and 30W fast charging. In addition to the Redmi K30 5G,  Xiaomi has also announced a more affordable version of the device, the Redmi K30, with 4G connectivity. Besides the two smartphones, the company also launched a new laptop at the event, called the RedmiBook 13.

Xiaomi Redmi K30 5G: Display

The Redmi K30 5G flaunts a 6.67-inch LCD display, Full HD+ resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, and 120Hz refresh rate. It has a pill-shaped punch-hole at the top right corner that houses the dual front-facing camera for selfies. The phone has a frosted glass finish and comes in four color options: Blue, Purple, Pink, and White.

Xiaomi Redmi K30 5G: Performance

At its core, the Redmi K30 5G comes with the latest 7nm octa-core Snapdragon 765G processor with Adreno 620 GPU, coupled with 6GB / 8GB of RAM and 64B / 128GB / 256GB of internal storage. The phone includes a 4500mAh battery with 30W fast charging support, which Xiaomi claims to fully charge the battery in around one hour. As for other hardware specifications, the phone comes with 5G connectivity, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C.

On the software front, the K30 runs on MIUI 11 based on Android 10, out of the box.

For optics, the Redmi K30 5G sports a quad-camera setup on the rear, which includes a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor, an 8MP wide-angle lens, a 5MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor. Towards the front, it has a dual-camera setup housed in the hole-punch cutout, which includes a 20MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary depth sensor.

As mentioned above, Xiaomi has also launched a 4G variant for the Redmi K30 that is supposed to be an affordable version of the device and targeted for countries that are behind the timeline for 5G rollout. The Redmi K30 4G variant comes with almost a similar set of specifications as the 5G variant, except for a few changes. These changes include 5G connectivity, Snapdragon 730G processor (over Snapdragon 765G), and a quad-camera setup with slightly rundown specifications, which include 64MP + 2MP + 2MP + 8MP.

Talking about pricing, the Redmi K30 4G variant comes in four configurations: 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB, priced at 1599 CNY (~ USD 227 / INR 16,108), 1699 CNY (~ USD 241 / INR 17,112), 1899 CNY (~ USD 270 / INR 19,126), and 2199 CNY (~ USD 312 / INR 22,148), respectively. The Redmi K30 4G will be available for sale in China starting December 12.

The Xiaomi Redmi K30 comes in four configurations: 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB, priced at 1999 CNY (~ USD 284 / INR 20,137), 2299 CNY (~ USD 326 / INR 23,159), 2599 CNY (~ USD 369 / INR 26,181), and 2899 CNY (~ USD 411 / INR 29,212), respectively. As for availability, the Redmi K30 5G will go on sale in China starting January 2020.
