Xiaomi launched its latest flagships for 2020, the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro last month in China and today, they’ve launched the two smartphones globally starting from the European market alongside the Mi 10 Lite. In addition, they’ve also launched a pair of truly wireless or TWS earphones which they’re calling as Mi True Wireless Earphones 2. They follow a similar design language as the Mi Air 2 which was launched in China some time back which, by the way, is inspired by the design of the Apple AirPods.
While the earbuds look familiar to the AirPods and have an open design, the case has a boxier look that sets it apart. Anyhow, moving on from design, the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 comes with Bluetooth 5.0 and support for LDHC codec for Hi-Res audio. They even come with dual microphones for noise-cancellation. However, the noise-cancellation is not ANC, rather it is ENC which stands for Environmental Noise Cancellation. This just means it’s not as effective as ANC and will only help to a certain extent to give you some isolation. Xiaomi has even integrated voice controls to navigate through smart functions.
Just like the AirPods, the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 will also connect to your Xiaomi smartphone running on MIUI automatically as soon as you pop open the lid of the case. The earphones have proximity sensors onboard so your music/videos will automatically pause/play if you remove one of the earbuds from your ear or put it back inside. There’s also support for touch gestures to change tracks.
The Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 uses 14.2mm drivers and comes with a claimed battery life of up to 4 hours on a single charge along with an additional 14 hours using the top-ups from the case. The case charges through USB-C and requires 1 hour for a full charge. The Mi True Wireless Earphones have been priced at 79.99 Euros. There’s no word about availability in other markets, but we hope Xiaomi gets it to India!
