Quick Answer
Firefox Containers let you isolate your websites from other containers. Each container is a separate space with its data. To enable and use Firefox Containers, you need to install the Firefox Multi-Accounts Container from the Firefox Add-Ons website.
Have you ever logged into the same websites on different browsers with different accounts? It might be difficult to juggle between the browsers to use different accounts simultaneously. You would have wished for a way to use them in the same browser simultaneously.

Firefox developers have heard you. To serve the same requirements, Firefox has introduced Firefox containers. Let’s see What Firefox containers are and how to use them.

What Are Firefox Container Tabs
Firefox containers create separate color-coded spaces for personal, work, and other uses. This feature allows you to log into personal and professional social media accounts simultaneously on the same browser. Each container creates a separate cache, cookies, etc., to isolate it from the other container.
With Firefox containers, you can isolate the spaces from other spaces. Opera has a similar feature named Tab Islands.
You can color code containers to remember which are used for what tasks. For example, you may use Red for personal use, Green for Work, Blue for banking, etc.
Firefox containers feature is not enabled or added to the browser by default. We need to use it by adding an extension developed by Mozilla (the parent company of Firefox).
How to Enable Firefox Containers
- Open the Firefox Containers page on the Firefox Add-Ons page. Then, click on Add to Firefox.

- On the prompt on the toolbar, click Add to install the add-on. It will install the Firefox Multi-Account Containers on Firefox.
- Click on the Firefox Containers icon on the toolbar to enable it. You will see a lot of information regarding the containers when you use it for the first time.

How to Add or Remove Websites to Firefox Containers
To add a website to Firefox Container, visit the website you want to add. Then, click on the Firefox Container icon on the address bar and select the container you want to add it to from Personal, Work, Banking, Shopping, or Facebook.

When you add the website to a container, it will automatically open in a new tab with the container. Henceforth, whenever you visit the website you added to a container, you will see an information page asking you to choose if you want to open the website in the assigned container or in the current tab.
To always open the website in the container, check the box beside Remember my decision for this site and click Open in (Work) Container. I added the website to work, so it is shown as Work container. The option will differ from the option you choose while adding the website.

To remove a website from a container, click the Firefox Containers add-on icon on the toolbar and click Manage Containers. Select the container from which you want to remove a website by clicking on it.

Now, click on the Manage Sites List to see and remove the websites you want to remove from the container.

Hover over the website you want to remove from the container to see the bin icon. Then, click on it to remove the site from the container.

The website will be removed from the container.
What is the difference between Firefox containers and tab groups?
Tab groups are just the groups of tabs that use the same cached and site data. You cannot use different accounts on a website simultaneously. Firefox Containers have different cached and site data for each container to give users a fresh experience.
Enable and Use Firefox Containers
All you need is a Firefox extension to enable and use Firefox Containers. You can separate the containers and use the same websites with different accounts to maximize your time instead of flipping between different browsers. Using the Facebook Container will stop and block all the tracking and fingerprinting from Facebook.
