The company behind it just announced that it has received an overwhelming $1.7 million funding from notable parties in the industry which include Google Ventures, Menlo Ventures and Charles River Ventures, to name a few.

In less than a year since it has been on the market, the app has seen a huge number of downloads and is currently in use in more than 77 countries across the globe. The company announced that the money will be used for hiring staff and for marketing and research developments. Garret Gee, CEO and co-found of Scan said that he thought QR codes always had a great deal of potential, but until now they were kept in the dark because of poor experiences and not so perfect products.     1.  @4JIT Nice question! But Scan plans to do much more. For example Scan Pages, Scan to Like, Scan to Check-In and Scan to Follow. Interesting to note that Google Ventures is one of the investors. I won’t be surprised if ends up getting acquired by Google in the future!
