You might think of a GPS unit as the easiest way to get driving directions while commuting. But do you realize the other uses of it?

Mobile phone tracking or Cell phone tracking or simply, GPS tracking is the process through which a functioning cell phone is detected and localized on the globe (even on the move!!).

To locate the phone, it must emit at least the roaming signal to contact the next nearby antenna tower, but the process does not require an active call. GSM localisation is then done by multilateration based on the signal strength to nearby antenna masts
First, the Cell phone tracking system detects the closest cell phone tower to the phone, estimates the distance between them, and after that it interpolates signals between adjacent antenna towers to make a more exact approximation.

Heres something to think about… yes it sucks to have your phone jacked, and yes its an awesome technology cause if u left your phone in your car that was stolen, or someone was kidnapped its great to have. What I would like to see more of is software to prevent tracking by the owner or would at least be able to let you know if u were being tracked and by whom. Set it up so that the detection software can only be accessed by the owner of the phone. install both tracking and detecting on your kids phones and lock them out. Call it parents permission. What Im getting at is that this same miracle software is a double edged sword and should go both ways. I know for a fact that there are some real jerks out there that would love to stalk their exs and what better way to do it? I think those people being stalked would like to know if their psycho ex is following them. Conversely, wouldnt we all like to make sure that the same ex is plenty far away? Besides, most of this software is sold under the guise of catching your cheating spouse, shouldnt we give them an edge as well; to at least make the game fair?

I find Mr tracker a mobile phone application that allows me to trace a phone by sms much easier than gps tracking, You can download the application from the Net works on my nokia N97.I paid for my version on my phone from a site called mrxsystem. It cost my 9.95 puonds and it works great.

I found my nokie n73 using mr tracker from mrxsystem, i dont know where you live but i know its works here in U.S. And i know it does not work in india. But it does work very well.
