Samsung Galaxy S10 series with Infinity-O Display, Punch-Hole Camera, and Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner Launched

Celebrating its tenth anniversary, Samsung has today officially launched the S10 series of smartphones, along with its first foldable smartphone: Galaxy Fold, at the Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco. The all-new Galaxy S10 series includes three smartphones, namely: Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and S10e, which are priced accordingly and aim at catering to almost all sections of consumer groups. For Samsung, the tenth anniversary marks the introduction of some fascinating technologies like foldable smartphones, Infinity-0 Display, and Punch-Hole Camera, to name a few.

Galaxy S10 Design

The Galaxy S10 sports a 6.1-inch Quad HD+ Curved Dynamic AMOLED with a 19:9 aspect ratio, coming in at a pixel density of 550ppi. For protection, the display comes with a Gorilla Glass 6 protection that prevents it from scuffs and scratches. The S10 is offered in four different colours: Prism White, Prism Black, Prism Blue, and Flamingo Pink.

Under the hood, the S10 is powered by either the Samsung’s Exynos 9820 chipset (in Europe) or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 (in Asia, USA), 8GB of RAM, and 128GB or 512GB of internal storage (expandable up to 512GB using microSD). Apart from that, the S10 comes with IP68 dust and water resistance and AKG-tuned speakers to provide a crisp and high-quality output sound. With the new S10 series, Samsung has also hopped on to the bandwagon, like most of the other smartphone manufacturers and adopted the USB Type-C for better connectivity and increased transfer and charging speeds. Additionally, it has also included the reverse-wireless charging capabilities to the S10 series, which can be used to charge other devices that support wireless charging. Although most smartphone manufacturers have ditched the headphone jack a long time back, Samsung refrains itself from doing so, and resorts with retaining the 3.5mm headphone jack on the S10 series.

In terms of optics, the S10 features a triple camera setup on the rear with a 12MP wide sensor with f/2.4, a 12MP telephoto sensor with f/1.5, and a 16MP ultra-wide angle sensor with f/2.2. For selfies, the top-right corner of the display has a punch hole, that encapsulates a 10MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture that comes with dual-pixel autofocus, OIS, and 4K video shooting capabilities. The S10 comes with a 3400mAh battery, which is something that a lot of the customers would not be happy with, especially when compared to some of the other smartphone manufacturers which are going overboard with battery capacities of up to 4000mAh.

For authentication, the S10 features the popular face recognition system to allow you to unlock the device using your face. In addition to that, the S10 finally gets the most talked about Ultrasonic fingerprint reader, which is essentially an in-display fingerprint reader with 3D scanning.

The Galaxy S10+ sports a 6.4-inch Quad HD+ Curved Dynamic AMOLED with a 19:9 aspect ratio, coming in at a pixel density of 522ppi. For protection, the display comes with a Gorilla Glass 6 protection that prevents it from scuffs and scratches.The device comes in four colours: Prism White, Prism Black, Prism Blue, and Flamingo Pink. Additionally, Samsung is offering the S10+ in two more new colours: Ceramic Black and Ceramic White.

Under the hood, the device is powered by either the Samsung’s Exynos 9820 chipset (in Europe) or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 (in Asia, USA), 8GB or 12GB of RAM, and 128GB, 512GB, or 1TB of internal storage (expandable up to 512GB using microSD). In terms of other specifications, the S10+ is similar to the S10, except for a few changes.

The Galaxy S10e sports a 5.8-inch, Full HD+ Flat Dynamic AMOLED with a 19:9 aspect ratio, coming in at a pixel density of 438ppi. For protection, the display comes with a Gorilla Glass 5 protection that prevents it from scuffs and scratches.The device comes in four colours: Prism White, Prism Black, Prism Blue, and Flamingo Pink.

Under the hood, the device is powered by either the Samsung’s Exynos 9820 chipset (in Europe) or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 (in Asia, USA), 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage (expandable up to 512GB using microSD). The S10e shares most of the other specifications with the S10.

The S10e comes with a 3100mAh battery, which is decent, especially when compared with other smartphones, which is something that might be a point of concern for its buyers.

In addition to that, it also comes with the old-traditional fingerprint reader, located on the power button, unlike the S10 and S10+, which come with an ultrasonic fingerprint reader.

Galaxy S10 Price and Availability

The Galaxy S10, S10+, and S10e will be available in four colours: Prism White, Prism Black, Prism Blue, and Flamingo Pink. Additionally, the S10+ model will also be available in the Ceramic White and Ceramic Black colour. According to Samsung, the pricing starts at $899 for the S10, $999 for the S10+, and $749 for the S10e model. And the pre-ordering begins February 21, with customers ordering the device between February 21 and March 7 standing a chance to receive free Galaxy Buds, priced at $129.
