Following the launch of M10 and M20 about a month ago and teasing the phone for the past few weeks, Samsung has today officially announced the third smartphone in its newest M-series lineup, the M30. The new M-series is targeted towards the budget-smartphone segment and aims at giving a tough competition to other smartphone manufacturers that include the likes of Xiaomi, for example, which has been offering budget-smartphones for some time now. And with the Redmi Note 7 slated to be launched tomorrow, it would be interesting to see if the M30 from Samsung manages to stand up tall considering both the smartphones fall under the same price bracket.

The all-new Galaxy M30 flaunts a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. As the name suggests, the device sports a waterdrop notch on the top, or as Samsung likes to call it the Infinity-U display. Under the hood, the M30 is powered by Samsung’s newest chipset for 2019, the Exynos 7904, which is a 1.8Ghz Octa-Core chipset, along with a Mali-G71MP2 GPU, paired with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage (expandable up to 512GB). In terms of other hardware, the device comes with a USB Type-C for data transfer and charging, 3.5mm audio jack, face unlock, and rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. And to power everything, it has a whopping 5000mAh battery with 3x charge provided with a 15W charger in the box, that is sufficient to provide enough juice throughout the day. Additionally, the M30 comes with Widevine L1 certification that allows users to stream HD content from their favorite streaming services on their device.

In terms of optics, the M30 features a triple camera set up on the rear (13MP primary with f/1.9, 5MP secondary ultra-wide with a 123-degree view and f/2.2, 5MP third with depth sensor and f/2.2 aperture), and a single 16MP camera with f/2.0 aperture on the front for selfies. Samsung says the triple camera setup on the M30 is the first ever camera on a device in this segment to offer ultra-wide pictures.
