Giveaways are a really good way to build audiences and engagement, especially when you’re running a website or just trying to get better promotion for a product or service. We’ve had a bunch here on Technology Personalized, as well, so I guess you know what I’m talking about. And now Amazon has decided to help with this and, of course, help itself, in the same time.

The big online retailer has now introduced a new tool that allows customers to hold their own giveaways. Therefore, basically anyone with an Amazon account can choose prizes from the company’s catalog and host a contest on the site for free. As a matter of fact, Amazon is currently holding some, so have a look at them to see how this works.

This is also a great way for Amazon to boast its shipping capabilities, as the company says it will take care of the distribution of giveaway prizes directly to the winners. As you could expect, the entire process of setting up a giveaway is fairly simple. You can select up to 50 prizes and these items have to ship from Amazon.com to be eligible with the total value being limited to $5,000. After that, you can easily set up the giveaway by using the two-step wizard. Once you are done, a unique link will be emailed to you. You can then share it with your audience.

What makes this new tool really helpful is that Amazon runs the actual giveaway, notifies winners, and handles shipping, tax reporting, and everything else; as long as you have the money to pay for the goodies. You can set up giveaways in two ways: either on a first-come, first-served model or on the “lucky number” approach. So, if you always wanted to hold a giveaway on your blog but didn’t find an easy way to do it, this might help you out.
