Instagram stories are a good way to post updates and communicate with friends, or followers. They expire in 24 hours. In those 24 hours, we can see who viewed the story without them interacting with the story. The views are updated in numbers and we can see individual profiles of those who have seen it by swiping the story up.

However, there are times we may not see the profile details or view count. If you are facing a similar issue, we have some fixes that can help you get your view details back. Let’s see how to fix when you are unable to see who viewed your story on Instagram.
This guide will help you if you can see the view count but cannot see the profiles, or if you cannot see the view count or profiles altogether.

6 Ways to Fix “Unable to See Who Viewed My Story on Instagram”
When you are unable to see who viewed your Instagram story, there are several ways you can fix them, starting with privacy settings to clearing the app cache, etc. You can follow the below methods to fix the issue with Instagram stories.
Wait for Sometime
As soon as we post a story on Instagram it can take a few minutes for the people to view it and the views to get updated. It is better to wait for a few minutes and conclude that there is an issue. If you can see the views and profiles after a few minutes, it is fine. If not, follow the below methods.
Check Your Internet Connection
If you have any issues with the internet, your device cannot connect to the Instagram servers. You need to make sure the internet is working fine on your device. Switch to mobile data if you’re connected to a WiFi or vice versa.
If you only have access to mobile data, run a speed test using free speed test tools and check if the internet is working fine. If you are facing any issues, put your phone in airplane mode for a minute and check if the connection is back after turning off the airplane mode.
Check Privacy Settings

Instagram comes with a lot of privacy settings. If you have accidentally tweaked the settings related to stories and live and selected all your followers to hide the story from, they cannot see your story. If they cannot see your Instagram story, the views cannot be updated.
Tap on the Profile icon > Hamburger menu > Settings and privacy. In the Settings and privacy page, tap on Hide story and live under Who can see your content section. Unselect the people if you have selected them by mistake.

Check Instagram Server Status

Every byte of data regarding Instagram is stored on its servers. We access the data on servers using the internet. Servers may face temporary issues. During such times we cannot use the services. Only the cached data on our devices is seen until the server issue is fixed. If you refresh the timeline, we might not even see the cached data too.
Open Downdetector or any such website and check if there are any issues with the Instagram servers by clicking on the Instagram tab on the homepage among the list of popular sites. If you see a downtime, wait for some time for it to be fixed by the Instagram team. Alternatively, check for official communication from the Instagram or Meta team on their social media pages regarding the possible outage and other updates.
Log Out and Log In Again on Instagram
Logging out of Instagram and logging in again fixes a lot of basic issues we face on it. To sign out of Instagram,

- Tap on the Profile icon > Hamburger menu and select Settings and privacy.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the Settings and privacy page and tap on Log out.
Now, use your Instagram account credentials and sign in again to see if the views are updated or not.
Reinstall Instagram App
If nothing works, it is better to reinstall the Instagram app. The process involves clearing the app cache, uninstalling the Instagram app, and installing it from the Google Play Store or App Store again.
To clear the app cache and uninstall the Instagram app,

- Open the Settings app on your mobile device
- Select the Apps tab
- Find Instagram in the list and tap on it
- Select Storage on the App info page and tap on Clear cache
- Come back to the App info page and tap on Uninstall at the bottom of the page
That’s it. Now, open the Google Play Store or App Store on your device, search for Instagram, open it, and click Install. After the installation, open the app, sign in with your Instagram account credentials, and see if it has fixed the issue.

FAQs on Unable to See Who Viewed My Story on Instagram
1. When can you no longer see who viewed your Instagram story?
Instagram stories come with a lifetime of 24 hours from the minute you have uploaded them. You can get the view count for the entire 24 hours. Once the time has expired, you cannot see the view count even if you have added the story to one of your highlights. The view count just disappears and new views won’t be tracked or counted.
2. Why is my Instagram story liked but not viewed?
There are some third-party Instagram apps like Instander which come with a ghost mode. Using the ghost mode, users can join live sessions of others, view stories, etc. But their views will not be counted. If you are seeing a like on your Instagram story without a view, they must have used a feature like ghost mode on third-party Instagram apps.
