This CleanMyPC review reflects my experience with the PC cleaning tool over the past couple of months. If you’re here, it’s safe to assume that you’re looking for software that can optimize your computer’s performance.

In this review, I’ll take you through the features included in CleanMyPC, the ease of use, and the customer support system. Furthermore, I’ll discuss the tool’s pricing information then give my final thoughts on the overall performance based on my own experience.
And before we get started, it’s important to know about the developers of this software, MacPaw. This Ukraine-based company is known for popular software like CleanMyMac, ClearVPN, CleanMyDrive, and SetApp. CleanMyPC follows the footsteps of its Mac counterpart promising to optimize Windows PCs. Please note that CleanMyPC isn’t under active development anymore. And yet, we think it deserves to be considered when looking for a good Windows optimisation suite.

CleanMyPC Features
There are a number of tools in CleanMyPC you can use to address several aspects of your computer system for optimized performance. Let’s check these tools one after the other:
My Computer Cleanup
This is a primary feature on CleanMyPC, and it’s basically a computer maintenance utility. Think of the Disk Cleanup software that comes with your Windows operating system. What it does is basically scan your hard drive to find junk files, including broken downloads and different log files that you should not keep. Removing these files would contribute to improved system performance, which would benefit you.

When I tested the tool, at the click of the Scan button, it started running through my C: files. Unlike in iolo System Mechanic, there is a single scan option, which was pretty quick when I used it. When the scanning was completed, it displayed the size of the found junk files and gave an option to check the files’ details .If you don’t want to delete some files, you can remove them from the selected files. However, the free version only allows you to remove 500 MB worth of junk files.
Multi Uninstaller
Here is the uninstallation utility that you’ll find in CleanMyPC. It can remove up to 10 apps at a time with a couple of clicks. It completely removes any application from your PC, along with all associated files. Again, when I tested the tool, it scanned through my computer to find installed applications. When the scan was completed, it displayed the exact number of applications installed on my computer.

The tool listed the detected applications and their sizes. Of course, I had the option to uninstall many applications at once. It took a while before the process finally completed, but it did great by completely removing all application files. Furthermore, you can use the Refresh button to rescan your computer for the number of installed applications.
Hibernation
Hibernation is another important tool in CleanMyPC. If you understand how hibernation works on your Windows computer, you must be familiar with hibernation files. Each time you hibernate your computer, it saves its current working state to the hard drive and completely turns off.

However, even if you don’t hibernate your computer, it takes up so much space on your drive. When I tested the tool, I enabled this feature, and it revealed the hibernation file size. However, when I disabled the system hibernation file, I could reclaim the same size of disk space.
Extensions
There’s also a tool that can help you manage all web extensions on all the installed browsers on your computer. Beyond this, the tool can also manage desktop gadgets, toolbars, or plugins that you have installed on your computer. Having a tool that can help manage all of these is a nice idea. You can delete any of the extensions, or a couple of them, from the manager in CleanMyPC. Furthermore, this tool is usually not a common inclusion in all optimization software.

For instance, no extension manager is included in Ashampoo WinOptimizer or iolo System Mechanic. When I tested the tool, at a click on the Start using button, it began to scan through my computer to find extensions. After the scan was completed, it provided a list of all the extensions, their sizes, and their installation dates. I could delete any of the extensions or clean all of them at once.
Autorun
Certainly, there are some applications that start automatically with the Windows operating system. They are called autoruns. They take up space on your hard drive. Some of them might be necessary, while others are not. This tool in CleanMyPC enables you to manage them effectively to achieve an optimized startup process. It’s similar to the Startup Optimizer tool in iolo.

When I used the tool, as usual, it ran a scan and provided a list of the autoruns on my computer. I could select any autorun or multiple numbers to remove completely from my computer. The current status of each autorun was also included, and I could either disable or enable any of them.
Privacy
This is different from the Privacy Guardian included in iolo, and it’s not as comprehensive as the Ashampoo Privacy Inspector software. Anytime you use your computer, connected to the Internet or not, your activities are stored in the form of cached data, cookies, authorization details, and history.

These privacy data files take up a significant amount of space on your hard drive. Removing these files will not only protect you from getting infiltrated but also free up space for increased optimal performance.
While using the tool, I discovered that there was a safety level indicator for every application, and I could selectively delete those privacy files.
Shredder
CleanMyPC features a tool that can securely delete any unwanted file from your computer. This Shredder tool removes files with no chance to recover them again. Normally, when you delete a document on your computer, you can still find it in the Recycle Bin folder. Even after you delete it from the folder, the file can still be recovered using a recovery utility.

However, to securely delete your files and prevent them from being recovered, use the Shredder tool. When I tested this feature, I could select a bunch of files or folders at a time. It destroys the files and deletes them from your computer.
Interface
CleanMyPC has a simple interface design. The features are listed in a vertical dashboard, and you can access them the moment you launch the software on your Windows device. After every scan, it’s also easy to select the files you want to remove and even create exceptions.
The user interface is such that the software can be used by anyone. Apart from the features, you can also use the Option button, which is visible at the top-right of the screen, to access the settings. From there, you can manage languages, appearance, updates, and notification settings.
Customer Support
There is an official support page for CleanMyPC where you can lay your hands on different resources to help you out of various challenges. These resources also include tutorials on how to use certain functions. There are many frequently asked questions that have been answered, and there is a knowledge base that you can explore. Beyond these, you can retrieve or reset your license from the support page, and contact their support desk directly by providing necessary information.
CleanMyPC Pricing
The pricing system for CleanMyPC is a one-time purchase. A license for one PC costs $39.95. If you want to use the software on multiple computers, you should get either a license for 2 PCs or for 5 PCs. They cost $79.90 and $199.75 respectively. However, you may get a discount saving up to $19.95 and $109.80.
Furthermore, if you purchase any of the licenses, you get instant activation and 24/7 technical and sales support. Additionally, there is a 30-day money-back guarantee on all licenses.
CleanMyPC Review Verdict
CleanMyPC is a very easy-to-use cleanup utility for Windows computers. For a tool like this, it has a great list of features. However, it’s worth mentioning that it lacks a data recovery tool, which you may find in some alternatives like Iolo’s System Mechanic or Comodo’s PC TuneUp. That may be intentional to make the software strictly a cleanup tool. Additionally, I must commend the pricing system; the idea of a one-time purchase is intriguing. It gives potential users the confidence that they only have to pay once to enjoy the features unlimitedly.
