Speaking of the specifications, the iPhone 16 comes with a 6.61-inch new vertical camera design. It also comes in five color variants. On the front similar to the iPhone 15 series, the 16 also features a dynamic island with no changes in the size. It comes with an A18 processor (a big jump from A16 on the 15 to A18) that supports on-device AI, the first standard model from Apple to support Apple’s intelligence feature which was previously limited to the pro models (iPhone 15 pro and 15 Pro max).
The standard variants also receive a new camera system. It now features a new 48MP Fusion Camera main camera which also comes with a 2x zoom (optical) option. There is also an upgraded 12MP Ultra-Wide camera with autofocus with macro photography. Additionally, the standard variants also receive the action button and a new dedicated camera button that lets you quickly open the camera, take a photo, and start video recording. The button also has a high-precision force sensor to adjust things like zoom, exposure, or depth of field using touch interactions.
The Pro models have also received hardware changes. They now feature slightly bigger screens. The Pro now starts at 6.3 inches, up from 6.1 inches on the iPhone 15 Pro, and the Pro Max now measures 6.9 inches, up from 6.7 inches on the 15 Pro Max. Both the models are made of titanium just like the previous models.
The camera module in the rear comes with the same design as the 15. Similar to the standard models, the pro models also come with a dedicated camera control button which lets you launch the camera and control it using the capacitive touch.
Speaking of the processor, The iPhone 16 Pro series has the new A18 Pro bionic chip with a 16-core neural engine for on-device features. According to Apple, it is 50% faster than the 15 Pro, with a 20% faster GPU. It also supports all the new Apple intelligent features from summarising the text, improved and more powerful Siri, transcribing calls, and adjusting photo settings automatically and more.
The iPhone 16 Pro has a new 48MP Fusion Camera with support for 4K120 fps video recording. It also supports macro photography and Dolby Vision support for high-quality photos and videos. It also comes with an improved 48 MP improved ultra-wide camera and a 5X telephoto camera on both pro and max models. All the cameras can capture spatial photos and videos which can be viewed later on Apple Vision Pro.
