Samsung has today announced two new smartphones in its M-series lineup, the Galaxy M30s and the M10s. Generally speaking, the M30s is similar to the M30 announced earlier this year, and as its name suggests, it is an improvement over the previous model. Samsung also recently announced the A30s and A50s, which are an update to the A30 and A50 respectively. With that said, let’s jump in and look at the differences between the M30 and M30s in detail.

Galaxy M30 vs M30s: Display

One of the aspects, where both, the M30 and the M30s share similar specification is the display. The all-new M30s comes with a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ Infinity-U display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a 2340×1080 pixels screen resolution, similar to the one found on the M30.

The M30 comes with an Exynos 7904 processor with an octa-core Mali-G71MP2 GPU running under its hood, paired with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage (expandable up to 512GB with microSD card). Whereas, the M30s has an Exynos 9611 processor with an octa-core Mali-G72MP3 GPU at its core, coupled with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage (expandable up to 512GB with microSD card). Coming to the battery on the M30s, which, Samsung has been boasting about since the past few weeks, the device has a mammoth 6000mAh battery, over 5000mAh battery on the M30, to power everything.

On the software front, the M30s runs on Android 9 Pie out of the box with Samsung’s OneUI running on top. Similar to the M30, the M30s also comes with Widevine L1 certification to allow users to stream HD content across various platforms on their device.

In terms of optics, the M30 comes with a triple camera setup on its rear with a 13MP primary sensor with f/1.9 aperture, a 5MP depth sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and a 5MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture, with LED flash. For selfies, it has a single 16MP camera on the front.

On the other hand, the M30s also sports a triple camera setup on the rear, similar to the M30, but with a 48MP primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture, a 5MP depth sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture, with LED flash. And on the front, it has a 16MP camera with in-display flash for selfies. Samsung says the camera can identify up to 20 preset scenes like food, scenery, etc, and supports 4K video recording, super slow-mo, super steady, and hyper-lapse modes.

Samsung Galaxy M30s Pricing and Availability

The Galaxy M30s comes in three colors: Opal Black, Sapphire Blue, and Pearl White. And two configurations: 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GBB, which are priced at INR 13,999 and INR 16,999 respectively. It will go on sale starting September 29 on Samsung Shop and Amazon India.
