SPPL or Super Plastronics Pvt. Ltd., Kodak’s brand licensee, today announced its partnership with Flipkart to introduce its first Certified Android TV range in the country. Dubbed the Kodak CA Series, the lineup will include four variants, available in 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch, which come equipped with Dolby Vision, 4K HDR10 panel, DTS TruSurround, and Android 9.0, among other things. SPPL claims it is the only brand licensee in India to partner with Google for the Make in India initiative.
Before delving into the specifications and features for the all-new TVs, let’s first look at some of the numbers shared by the company during the announcement. Based on a report from Acumen Research and Consulting, “The global Android TV market size is expected to reach around $231 Billion by 2026 with a CAGR of around 20% during the forecast period of 2019-2026.” Building upon the same and aiming to cater to growing demand, SSPL plans to launch new TV models throughout the year. Moreover, for the year 2020, it is targeting a turnover of 700 cr for FY 2020-21 and aims to witness 100% growth in volume sales in 2020 as compared to 60 % growth in 2019.
Coming back to TV, as already mentioned, the CA Series comes in four different screen sizes: 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch — all with the same UHD 4K resolution with HDR10 support and a 500000:1 contrast ratio. The TV runs on Android 9 out of the box and offers Bluetooth v5.0, USB 3.0 (x2), and HDMI (x3) for connectivity. It comes with a remote control that has dedicated hotkeys for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube and Google Play Store for entertainment, and Google Assistant support for quick navigation. As for other hardware specifications, the TV comes with 8GB of onboard storage and 1.75GB of RAM and includes support for Dolby Vision, Dolby Digital Plus with DTS TruSurround, MEMC, ethernet port, and screen mirroring.
Pricing and Availability
The Kodak CA Series comes in four screen sizes, with the entry model with 43-inch starting at Rs 23,999. As for availability, the TV will be available via Flipkart to start with.
