Xiaomi, one of the leading smartphone brands in India, today announced a major change in the company's structure by making Poco a standalone brand in itself. What this essentially means is that the brand, Poco, will now run independently of Xiaomi, and as a result, will have its own team and market strategy, entirely focussed on its product lineup.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThe announcement comes from the Xiaomi Vice President and Xiaomi India Managing Director, Manu Kumar Jain, who tweeted saying, "What started as a sub-brand in POCO has grown into its own identity in a short span of time. POCO F1 is an extremely popular phone across user groups and remains a top contender in its category even in 2020. We feel the time is right to let POCO operate on its own now, which is why we\u2019re excited to announce that POCO will spin-off as an independent brand. Join me in wishing the POCO team the best!"\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTo give you some background, Poco started off as a sub-brand of Xiaomi back in 2018. Since its presence, although the company has launched just one smartphone, the Poco F1, it has surprisingly managed to build up a huge fan following in this short span of time, with consumers demanding its successor, the Poco F2, for quite some time now. Although, as of now, Manu Jain has not revealed a timeline for when we can expect the Poco F2 or any other product from Poco as an independent brand, he has said that the products are expected to come out soon.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAdding further, speaking on the delay in launch of a new Poco smartphone (or any other product), Jain said that the company did not launch any more product under the brand Poco as it took some time out to try to figure out how to improve and bring more such products to its consumers as a separate brand, independent of Xiaomi. As a result, it finally decided that this time, the company will be more focussed on speed, gaming, and performance along with good camera setup. And will make a comeback as a separate brand, a separate legal entity with a separate team that will run independently of Xiaomi.
